Or the years that he played for us. Made Witts look like a contested marking beast

Another departed 2010 premiership player who hasn't hurt us since he left.

Actually his absence hurt us a lot. Cloke played his best football when Leroy Brown and Chris Dawes were playing alongside him in the forward line. Both were considered too damaging to be left unguarded and so Cloke was rarely double teamed in 2009-11. Then Leroy retired and Dawesy was injured and then traded. Cloke regularly faced two and even three defenders when he flew for marks between 2012 and 2015. Neither a past-his-prime Lynch nor a substandard White were considered too damaging to be left unguarded. It wasn't till Darcy Moore emerged that we had a second dangerous tall forward and by then Cloke's confidence and his game had collapsed.

Chris Dawes was one of the reasons we won the flag in 2010 and nearly won 2011. He was a huge body on the forward line that demanded an opponent. Some of his touches in the 2010 replay set up important goals. Fell away late in 2011 and made crucial mistakes in the 2011 GF.

Was not able to take over the back up ruck role from Leroy and it was all downhill from there.

Not a lot of value getting him back, except to play VFL.

We could do worse than plonk him at CHF and as WL said, protect Mr Darcy for a couple of years. Dawes was never really a typical forward, he was an interesting link man with decent awareness and reasonable accuracy when goalkicking. I think he could offer something.

Agreed. Even as insurance. He'd play more vfl footy than afl but he's experienced and smart and a great team player

Okay, look - if no other club takes him, then yes grab him with pick 105 or some shit. If he understands he will most likely play VFL in 2017, barring another bubonic plague of injuries to the seniors, and accepts that reality, then all good in da hood.

No thanks. Not sure why anyone would even consider it. He was average when he was with us, and he has declined since then. He is a forward - but he doesn't kick goals, nor does he get on the park enough.

We can recruit him to play VFL, but not the senior list.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if he went and Captain Coached Caulfield Grammarians or similar in the VAFA. He is not crying out for a quid.

I think he has a lot to offer the lower leagues either as a player coach, coach, or just a player. I reckon he would be a good signing for my local club with a retirement of our full forward he could fill that void nicely.
