Thanks for the tip about editing your quote. Saves people rereading the whole quote when you may only be referring to part of what's quoted. I guess it's just laziness pressing the quote button and agree that it's not good in a long thread and posting a comment on a succession of lengthy quotes without editing.

Re Stui's post about it not being hard to selectively quote it is bloody hard to do so on a phone. All of my posts are done on an iPhone and it's infuriating to do what the mods are asking.

So don't use a bloody phone. Save up and get a proper computer.

So get a decent smart phone instead of Apple crap.

You can even get docking stations these days and use a phone as a PC with a real keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Just need to be careful about selective quoting. Try to keep the original meaning of the post intact.

Here is an example of a poster who agrees with me:

Just a gentle bump from the Mods team. There's been quite a bit of this creeping back in lately, especially in the threads about coaching. Some posts in them contained so many nested quotes (before very time-consuming clean-up) that the threads were virtually unreadable.

Ask yourself, can the other recognisably intelligent (and good-looking) Nicksters simply scroll up a little way to see the post to which you are no doubt making an erudite and thoughtful reply?

Consider too whether its really necessary to quote a quoted quote that's already done the same - sometimes to the extent that we end up with one line of reply, over-shadowed by the 50 nested lines from the 20 quotes above it.

And always remember that you can always edit the quote to include just the phrase you think is relevant. Select and delete anything unwanted between the 2 [ quote ]...[ /quote ] tags (spaces used here to avoid formatting).

You can even use the Preview button to check just how startlingly concise and to the point your contribution will be.

Thanks...the mods team

(And please resist the urge to demonstrate what the multiple quoting would look like in this thread. Everyone's seen that one coming...)

Time for another gentle reminder from the Mods. The guiding message is "Please, please please (channel your best James Brown impression) exercise some discretion before using the Quote button in a reply."
