why shouldnt Maynard, Langdon Phillips be required to prove they are better options than an aging Del Santo. I'ver never understood this line of argument.

Buckley dropped both White and Fasolo until they could prove they were worthy of a spot in the team. Both improved their approach to the game following those periods of time in the twos.

Remember, we won a flag a few years ago by requiring our young players to prove they were better than Lockyer, Fraser and O'Bree. i believe this is healthy and an essential part of player development vs gifting them games without merit in the hopes that this will just naturally lead to their improvement.

I agree in principle but for mine there isn't that much if anything between Del Santo and players like Maynard and Langdon as HB options which appears to what we're talking here. Phillips is still a tad down the pecking order and seems better suited HF/wing anyway. So if we've already got 2 players who can at this stage in their respective development at least match Del Santo, who are younger with greater ceilings, why recruit him.

Carlton has delisted a few including Dillon Viojo-Rainbow. He was fairly highly rated as a junior, does anyone know what happened to him ?

Got wrapped as an Arnott's biscuit in a family all-sorts value pack.

Agree. If Dal Santo can provide some value, there's no reason not to look at him. We still have less players over 30 than any other club, so this argument that all of these old blokes are going to stop the young players developing doesn't wash.

We'll be a better team when we are not forced to continually play young players who aren't yet up to it. Have played too many of them the past few years.

I cant believe we got Mayne for 4 on good pay when we could have got Barlow who is the same age and a better player for nothing.

The delistings are starting to mount and there are a few interesting names there. Richards maybe, is he worth a punt? Henderson? Any other thoughts.

^^ RE: The unsigned Free Agents:

Ricky Henderson was officially delisted by Adelaide. He remains linked to some Victorian clubs.

Jarryd Blair is still on our list. But he has not yet signed a deal. Is it still possible he may end up elsewhere?

Zac Clarke is still expected to remain with Freo on a 3 year deal but has not signed it yet. West Coast couldn't, could they??

Tom Lonergan will sign a one year deal with Geelong.

Sam Fisher has officially retired.

Mitch Brown was officially delisted by West Coast and is expected to find a home in Victoria. Wonder who it'll be?

Sam Butler signed a new deal to remain with the Eagles.
