A few don't have enough list spots for the number of decent picks they have. A few others have more spots than their number of decent (sub-70?) picks in hand. Rough guesses based on this info - note that it doesn't take into account OOCs like Barlow:

https://www.draftguru.com.au/lists/2017
https://www.draftguru.com.au/years/2016/provisional-draft-order

Adelaide: 0 to delist (4 spots; can use 13, 43, 53, 67; not 89 etc)
Brisbane: 0 to delist (5 spots; can use 3, 16, 21, 22, 76; not 78 etc) (maybe 1 to sign/promote?)
Carlton: 0-3 to delist (3 spots; can use 5, 25, 48; not 63, 66, 70, 81 etc)
Collingwood: 0 to delist (6 spots; can use 28, 44, 51, 62, 65, 83) (maybe 1 to sign/promote?)
Essendon: 0-1 to delist (4 spots; can use 1, 20, 29, 41; not 68 etc)
Fremantle: 0 to delist (4 spots; can use 7, 35, 40, 71; not 79 etc) (maybe 1 to sign/promote?)
Geelong: 0 to delist (6 spots; can use 24, 38, 42, 64, 72, 74; not 91 etc) (maybe 1-2 to sign/promote?) (went with 38 this year)
Gold Coast: 2 to delist (2 spots; can use 4, 6; not 8, 10, 73 etc)
GWS: 0-4 to delist (7 spots; can use 2, 15, 37, 39, 45, 52, 55; not 57, 58, 59, 60, 77, etc)
Hawthorn: 2 to delist (1 spot; can use 88, 90, etc etc)
Melbourne: 0 to delist (3 spots; can use 47, 69, 84) (maybe 1 to promote?)
North Melbourne: 0 to delist (4 spots; can use 11, 32, 33, 87; not 92 etc) (maybe 1 to sign/promote?)
Port Adelaide: 0 to delist (5 spots; can use 14, 17, 30, 31, 85) (maybe 1 to sign/promote?)
Richmond: 0 to delist (3 spots; can use 27, 56, 82) (maybe 1 to promote?)
St Kilda: 4 to delist (-1 spots; can't use 23, 36, 61, 86, etc)
Sydney: 0 to delist (7 spots; can use 9, 19, 46, 49, 93) (maybe 1 to promote?) (usually go with 38 )
West Coast: 0 to delist (3 spots; can use 12, 34, 54)
Western Bulldogs: 1 to delist (2 spots; can use 18, 26; can't use 50, 75, 80, 94)

So based on that most likely 10-15 more to delist, and a few spots for another signing - though keep in mind that only 6 clubs went with 40 on the list this year, most had 38 or 39.

Thoughts on who might be still to go? Or get signed/promoted to fill list spots?

^^ based on that you'd imagine that there will be a few players who'll be delisted before the draft. There are a couple of picks there that GCS will keen to use (8 & 10) but more interesting for us is there are quite a few picks that (currently) can't be used in the 50's and 60's which will improve our picks in this region if things remain as is.

Well if he drops his price tag and is happy to play VFL, why wouldn't you have him there mentoring the young-uns for a year or two?

Barlow worth a rookie spot? May help with depth if required.

Barlow(freo), Mitch Clark(Cats) Paul Stewart (Port) delisted.

Geez. To think the club was criticised for not getting Clark in 2014. We dodged a bullet there. Only played 16 underwhelming games.

Can get him for free now.

I don't mind Barlow. But we don't really need another Mid.

We dodged a massive bullet from not obtaining Clark.

We won that three-way trade involving Varcoe, Lumumba and Clark.

Yeah a good call that one.

I wonder if a 4th club will take on Clark? Also wonder where Lumumba sits at Melb?

I think Clark is done, too injury prone, I doubt there is anyone will take a chance on him now that he has had all them injuries. Hopefully he's doing better with his depression battle though.

Josh McGuiness signed with Lauderdale recently, he's hoping playing back in Tasmania will get him back on a list.

Of course.

I think there would be a couple of good guys down here for that.

I would hope that Josh Watts comes back to Glenorchy.

why shouldnt Maynard, Langdon Phillips be required to prove they are better options than an aging Del Santo. I'ver never understood this line of argument.

Buckley dropped both White and Fasolo until they could prove they were worthy of a spot in the team. Both improved their approach to the game following those periods of time in the twos.

Remember, we won a flag a few years ago by requiring our young players to prove they were better than Lockyer, Fraser and O'Bree. i believe this is healthy and an essential part of player development vs gifting them games without merit in the hopes that this will just naturally lead to their improvement.

Great post. And maybe north cleaned off the saint stigma, but he seems like a pretty honest footballer to me. A good player for the kids to be around.
