Sidebottom is one of the best small forwards in the AFL.
Hopefully some of the younger players can step up (de Goey) to allow him some more time up forward.

I believe Sidebottom would kick at least 50 a year, if he played forward.

Is that a fair return from his absence in the midfield?

HF: Hoskin-Elliott - White - Mayne
FF: Fasolo - Moore - Elliott

Crocker, Broomhead, De-Goey and Varcoe are nice depth to rotate through there.

Pendlebury, Wells and Sidebottom will spend time there no doubt too.

I actually forgot Blair.

Not making an attempt at bashing him but you would like to think for the clubs sake Crocker and Broomhead in particular will move ahead of Blair.

If Broomhead stalls again this year, i think we need to look at moving him back to SA and get something in return while we can.

It I'll be interesting to see what mix the match committee come up with.
I've been on about Sidey playing as a forward and only relieving in the midfield for a while I think it's his best position by a long way.
Moore is a lock as is White (who can play as back up ruck)
WHE would be a lock one would assume as well so there's 4
The other 2 spots could be a case of who we are playing
Fas Elliott Mayne Crocker DeGoey Varcoe Broomhead Reid Howe all could fill roles easily
We have depth forward that's for sure just finding then6 who can get a winning score and apply the needed defensive pressure

We actually have finally caught up with modern day trends by entering 2017 without lumbering dinosaur KPP (Mason excluded). No Brown, Cloke, Frost or Witts to slow down our ball movement.

A backline and forward line with options depending on who we play is most exciting. Personally, if we have a full squad to choose from after pre-season matches (Yes Bill Davoren, we are watching), I would pick the following:

BACKS:

B: Maynard Dunn Scharenberg
HB: Varcoe Reid Smith

FORWARDS:

HF: Sidebottom Mayne Howe
F: Elliott Moore Hoskin-Elliott

Is it a good thing in this new game style to have an 11 goal forward line and a 17 goal backline, or does it still matter which team does the scoring?

Hoskin Elliott looks a real gem on the forward line, just seen his highlights, this kid can really play, so fast and heaps of pace, great mark. so different to the lumbering dinosaur of cloke, this kid is a damn good kick for goal too. Great pickup.

With the inclusion of Hoskin-Elliott, Mayne and the expected return of Billy Elliott, we should expect a much, much improved forward line next season.

F: Elliott Moore Mayne

HF: Hoskin-Elliott White Fasolo

Other possibles: Cox, Sidey, Aish, Broomhead, Crocker.....plus (eventually) Brown and Daics. Cool

Prefer Cox at Full Forward and Moore at CHF. We need a forward who can spell Grundy in the ruck for five minutes every quarter and Cox would do that better than White. I also think with another half a season of experience Mason will be a better forward than Jesse if he isn't already.

It takes 380-400 goals to finish top 2 on the ladder, i've noticed this looking over the ladder for the last 15 seasons. So we're going to need at least 250 goals from :
Moore(50)
Mayne(30)
White(30)
Cox(30)
Elliot(30)
Fasolo(45)
Steele(50)
WHE(20)
Crocker(15)
= 300 goals. Am i asking too much? If Pendles,Wells and Treloar can be used effectiveley as outside runners Via Adams DeGoeyGreenwoodCrisp and Co., then i can project just those outside players creating 20 scoring chances per game. I also believe Aish and Phillips will bloom next season as our Classman and Hardman. And hoping Jet Thomas can pick up where he left from.
