I've seen Dunn play some great footy at FB, but it does worry me that Roosy had clearly had enough of him in the best 22.

Overall this looks a no-brainer, but a sad sign that we have potentially given up on Jono Sad

Don't think it has much to do with Marsh. Dunn's a Cloke/Brown replacement.

He's a better kick, more proactive link player, bit like a slower, more accountable Howe without the leap. Lose the tash but I'm not sure he will run both ways much harder than Brown. He will get more involved with the rebounding though, and be more trusted with kick outs and delivering.

The Demons spoke to Collingwood today about Lynden Dunn. He's been a "loyal servant" and the Dees are happy to get a deal done. "We're probably just looking to help Lynden."

So probably for nearly nothing, and on that basis, I don't mind.

... allowing Howe onto the field as a marking target. That's a plus

I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with a new bloke taking the kick-in's. He'd have to come to understand our systems/traits VERY quickly. I'd see him more of a bullocking pack crasher and link up for long kicks to half forward. Or is he just a stay at home FB ?

When you factor into this deal, the 'potential' they may bond well together in the back pocket based from their past playing days, it sounds practical

From The Age 2.46pm:

Pies, Dees in talks over Dunn

Manager Marty Pask has told Trade Radio that Melbourne and Collingwood are currently in talks over Lynden Dunn.

"Both parties at the moment are in talks. There may be a swap of picks or a clean pick at the back end of the draft," he said, adding that Collingwood are just waiting to see some other things get done before they finalise a deal for Dunn.

Don't think he was on that much. Minimum chips, fuel card and Etag. Just training and playing at Collingwood he is miles in front!

Also agree with above posters - lose the tash!

On the AFL website:

"Lynden Dunn's manager, Marty Pask, is confident a trade sending the Demons defender to Collingwood will be settled in the next 24 hours. Here's what he told NAB AFL Trade Radio.

He's met with Collingwood, he's had his medical, and both parties are in talks to try and get something done. There may be a swap of picks or a clean pick at the back end of the draft. Collingwood are just waiting at the moment with a few things they're doing".

Something that I find interesting and I've been noticing it for a while: when we lose players we attempt to replace them with those of a similar age profile, to keep the balance, especially with older players as we have so few. I think when you look at our mooted changes in this way they seem quite a bit more positive:

Cloke (29) --> Dunn (29) - I'd back Dunn as the more useful modern footballer
Brown (27) --> Mayne (27) - Mayne, to me, is likely to be much more effective
Swan (32) --> Wells (31) - very different types, but Wells will offer us plenty

There are those who are confused by our strategy, but to me it's a simple matter of replacing lost experience with better suited, and in some cases cheaper, options. Looking at those changes, I am very comfortable with the players we've targeted so far. Going younger would not have been a positive move and in some cases, like free agents, was actually not an option.
Hey Inky.. I hope you don't mind but I have plagiarised your post on my face book page.I copied and Pasted the Players names and ages to point out to a dickhead ,what was ACTUALLY happening with our trades. If it's a drama I will take it down, but it got quite a few likes.
