Something about a bulldog player giving vital game plan info to his Adelaide brother before last years final, and the AFL didn't punish anyone, and the Bulldogs are pissed off, but then, hey, I reckon the run they got from the umpires in GF made up for that!
Another conspiracy
Don't believe me? From the AFL
From the Australia:
The umpiring of the grand final has been found to be below the standard expected from officials at the elite level.
The AFL reviewed the performances of the game’s umpires and found that three to four incorrect decisions went against Sydney, Fox Sports reported last night.
Decisions deemed incorrect included some failures to call sliding free kicks, most notably the slide by Western Bulldogs captain Easton Wood on the Swans’ Dan Hannebery that resulted in a medial ligament injury to the midfielder in the final quarter when the game was in the balance.
At least one other slide that didn’t receive any sanction was viewed as a mistake.
Incidents that were contentious included below-the-knees contact from Toby McLean on Kieren Jack, with the free kick going against Jack, as well as a slide from Dale Morris on the wing that saw Tom Papley tumble over.
Another incident in the third quarter involved Dane Rampe being called for holding the ball, which the league deemed an incorrect decision.
The free kick against Rampe was quickly followed by a Clay Smith free kick for a high tackle, from which he scored.
Overall, the Western Bulldogs received 20 free kicks to the Swans’ eight. The differential of 12 was the biggest in a grand final since the three-umpire system was introduced in 1994. |
If you substituted the word Swans with Pies I just wonder what the findings would have been. That said the chances of the Pies getting a significant free kick advantage in a grand final does not exist in this universe. _________________ Now Retired - Every Day Is A Saturday |

Was Eddie aware of the issue prior to Gubbys appointment???
If not ..... it has nothing to do with Eddies decision making. _________________ No Pressure, No Diamonds

If he is banned for 4 years then we've just made one monumental stuff up in recruiting him and Eddie must go. You can't tell me that the club didn't know about this. |

I'm pretty sure the statement the club released at the time of his appointment mentioned the situation, that they were well aware and that they'd done due diligence before hiring him.
They were clearly pretty confident he was going to get off or end up with a slap on the wrist before hiring him, I wonder if something's changed in the situation or whether they simply misjudged it. |

I haven't followed the details of this, but I do recall Gubby Allan apparently denying that he had deleted text messages related to the incident. Perhaps the forensic investigation of phone records has shown otherwise? I guess we'll know soon enough. |

ASADA have already received / heard the complaint and given it back to AFL with no case to answer by them. At worst, the AFL could charge him 'bringing game into disrepute' which I highly doubt will anywhere near 4 years.
This stinks of another well timed fear campaign in the media, much like pre-season this year. Hype to the point of distraction during trade negotiations.
If the alleged evidence and penalty is somehow possible, does this not indicate another leak at AFL headquarters ?
F*#k 'em, I say. Bring it on !!! |

Gubby made full disclosure prior to his appointment.
Don't see why people are getting all hysterical about this. If he gets a ban he gets a ban, and that's a big IF. It'll hardly bring the club to its knees. |

And look at how well this 'fear campaign" works with individuals on this board condemning Eddie before we know the facts or the outcome. Media speculation is about all they can base their opinions on.
These are the same type of people portrayed in the Crucible who grabbed their pitchforks and lit a fire every time someone mentioned the word "witch". It is just so easy to manipulate some people.
