GWS star faces anti-doping ban.
8:01PM PATRICK SMITH:
Two officials and Lachie Whitfield face charges after the AFL received a brief of evidence.
Firewalled on The Australian. Gubby possible 2-4 year ban. That's all we need this Trade period. |

According to Patrick Smith, AFL have already met to deliberate on penalties to appease WADA. I imagine there will be some further action over next few days. Anyone with a subscription to The Australian might like to update this thread - I cited the whole article briefly before they firewalled it. |

Quote: | An AFL source confirmed to The Australian ASADA delivered its legal findings last Friday and they were discussed by the league executive yesterday morning.
It is believed all three could be found in breach of three codes or policies. They are the ASADA code, the AFL illicit drug code or, at the very least, charges of bringing the game into disrepute under AFL player rules. It is in the AFLs hands under which code or policy it takes action under.
The AFL investigators claim Allan and Lambert, then officials with GWS, had Whitfield stay at Lamberts home to avoid drug testing in May last year.
Allan had been made aware of possible drug use by Whitfield, a former No 1 draft pick, after text messages and emails from Whifields former partner. Whitfield stayed at Lamberts home for three days, away from the gaze of drug testers, claiming he was suffering from a migraine. |

I thought ASDA basically wiped their hands of this a month or two ago and said to the AFL it's your problem. So how can they now hand down their verdict? Sounds fishy to me. _________________ I HATE CARLTON |

Just dispute it, appeal ASADA, take it to WADA, appeal WADA, take it to Sweden, appeal the appeal, take it back to Sweden.

Maybe the AFL are running this headline to deflect from the Bulldogs issue. _________________ Get back on top. |

If he did what they say he did, it was the wrong thing to did, and we did a dumb did by doing him now.

It was front and back of the herald sun yesterday. Something about a bulldog player giving vital game plan info to his Adelaide brother before last years final, and the AFL didn't punish anyone, and the Bulldogs are pissed off, but then, hey, I reckon the run they got from the umpires in GF made up for that!
Another conspiracy
Don't believe me? From the AFL
From the Australia:
The umpiring of the grand final has been found to be below the standard expected from officials at the elite level.
The AFL reviewed the performances of the games umpires and found that three to four incorrect decisions went against Sydney, Fox Sports reported last night.
Decisions deemed incorrect included some failures to call sliding free kicks, most notably the slide by Western Bulldogs captain Easton Wood on the Swans Dan Hannebery that resulted in a medial ligament injury to the midfielder in the final quarter when the game was in the balance.
At least one other slide that didnt receive any sanction was viewed as a mistake.
Incidents that were contentious included below-the-knees contact from Toby McLean on Kieren Jack, with the free kick going against Jack, as well as a slide from Dale Morris on the wing that saw Tom Papley tumble over.
Another incident in the third quarter involved Dane Rampe being called for holding the ball, which the league deemed an incorrect decision.
The free kick against Rampe was quickly followed by a Clay Smith free kick for a high tackle, from which he scored.
Overall, the Western Bulldogs received 20 free kicks to the Swans eight. The differential of 12 was the biggest in a grand final since the three-umpire system was introduced in 1994. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |
