A little bit of a question on player numbers... knowing our first draft pick each year receives 35, I'm curious as to how things may play out this year. We saw Darcy get his old man's number, and with the potential additions of Callum Brown and Josh Daicos, could they also receive their dad's numbers?

Marly may be going which would free up 26, but the liklihood is that Brown gets a higher bid than Daicos, and with other trades, could well end up as our first pick...

Just seems wrong to me that Brown could end up with 35 and Daicos something else when they could each potentially have their dad's numbers.

Yes, quite a few ifs and the 35 tradition is in more in honour of Presti rather than Peter, but I just thought it interesting how it could play out.

The other option is moving the first pick jumper to #36, in honour of Swan. That frees up #35 to Daicos, providing we of course draft him.

I have no doubt that Brown will wear 26 and Daicos 35 regardless of who is drafted first.

The only exception is if either player didnt actually want that number, which does happen sometimes.

Notice those Footscray players didn't take their fathers numbers.
I myself felt that was disrespectful to tradition.

Anyhoo, worry about it if/when Williams stays or goes.

they can create their own history in a different number. if are to keep this first draft pick thing we should change it to 42.

That won't happen while the Millane family are against it.

If J. Daicos wants to play in #35, then this could see the end of the rotating jumper. Although, he does have a younger brother who is also tipped to come through in a few seasons.

If he really wants that number and the club, including Simon Prestigiacomo and Peter Daicos, are ok with it (which I think they will be), then we'll probably see the number remain with J. Daicos.

But as earlier mentioned, he may want to play in another number?? I think he wore #28 for Oakleigh?

It's not really the clubs priority at the moment though, is it?

Well David Cloke wore 33

Jason went for 34, 1 more than his old man
Cameron got 33 (that went well)
Travis got 32, just less than his old man (no comment)

While it would be nice to see the kids in their dads numbers, it rarely works.

Yet more importantly: they'll never disgrace our jumpers again.

I guess Mayne won't get his number from Freo (23) - Keeffe keeps this. Wells won't get 8 (Langdon).
Wonder is someone will take over the mighty 36? How I miss Roccaaaaaaaa! That Swan bloke could play a bit too.

Moore's career is almost certainly stuffed, then...

So far, we think Wells to #3

Vacancies to date 3/16/17?/27/34/36.

Who knows - Mitch Brown might land in #16?
