Maybe the salary space we need for Rock isnt such a huge problem considering it could have only been Levis salary package... ( thats me speculating again though )
Im thinking Collingwood is still interested in Rockliff and could still get done.
You cant have too much talent and surely you could play him in the forward line as well as midfield. |
Good points mate. My thoughts are come Wednesday next week when it comes to crunch time and the following occurs:
1. Brisbane have 5 picks under 21 in the Draft
2. Frost is crying to Peter Schwab "are you getting me or not"
3. Witts trade goes through at approx. pick 30
4. Greenwood gets an "honesty chat from Gubby" that you're fringe at best
5. And no one else is left standing with currency or cash....
Gubby shall sweep in and offer the following:
* Our pick 28
* Greenwood
* Frost
* cover all of his wage ($650,000 approx.)
for Tom Rockliff, Brisbane shall buckle and say "OK Gubby lets do it" |
That would be a massive loss for us. There is a reason nobody wants this guy. Not to mention his pay demands. I'd rather keep Levi _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

If the choice was between Rockliff and Lewis, I'd pick Lewis. |

I don't think we will pay overs for Rockliff, it depends on how much of his salary we can get them to pay. If Brisbane don't trade I think we will pick him up in 12 months as a free agent. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

Not sure if its been mentioned but he's a Murray Bushrangers' product, teammate of our man of Steele when they won the TAC flag in 2008. Ziebell was the other member of that team of note. _________________ Get back on top. |

Correct. In fact Rockliff was the captain of that Murray premiership team. |

Yep, kicked 4 goals and had 30 disposals in the GF. Won their B&F as well. _________________ Well done boys! |

The Rockliff deal isn't dead folks. Gubby hit them for a real low ball offer first up just to gauge was there a willingness for the Lions to want him out. Really Levi for Rockliff and them paying nearly all his salary was laughable but what it did do was start them seeing if there was any other interest out there. His salary is the biggest turnoff factor for clubs.
Watch Gubby come back with a offer of Levi and Oxley and the lions paying 60-75% of his current contract and we may throw in a late draft pick this year and next as steak knives. |

Gee P4S that's a harsh statement for a player who is a
Premiership player
2 time club B&F winner
All Australian
Rising star nominee and finished 4th
2 time top 15 Brownlow medal count
Voted by his peers on 2 occasions in the top 10 players in the comp
Voted by the coaches twice in top 10 players in the comp
Winner or runner up in several media awards and other player awards
If that's the scale you rate as a depth player then I would hate so see where Sidey rates on that scale !
Considering all the above achievements (except premiership) Sidey has never won or come close to winning or achieving I would say using your scale he is at his absolute best a fair VFL player |

Rude I'm with you his age profile fits in perfectly with ours, he can win his own ball and kicks goals. He might have had a ego rush up there being handed the captaincy and a huge pay day so a reality check and going to a club where he will be in the top 10 players but nowhere near the top of the tree might be the tonic the lad needs.
He has talent that's for sure was a highly rated junior and has played good footy for several years up there in a side that stinks.
Here he won't need to get 40 touches a week 25-30 would be ample and if he can get forward and kick 1 or 2 a week and lay 5-8 tackles and get 3-6 clearances and be part of sharing the workload around he would be a valuable pickup |

I agree. I was a bit harsh on Greenwood. He's slow but he's not a complete liability. |
