ok, time to build our dream 22. All players will be back from injury and all of the trades that are rumored will happen and guys who took drugs come back bigger and better than ever. At least until they don't. Here is my best 22 for round 1. It is a scary good team:

Howe Dunn Ramsey
Langdon Reid Scharenberg
Sidebottom Adams Wells
DeGoey White Aish
Faz Moore Mayne

Grundy, Pendles, Treloar

Hoskin-Elliot, Varcoe, Broomhead, Greenwood

On the outer:

Elliot and Sinclair need to show me they are able to play again.

Goldsack, Crisp, Blair, Maynard, Smith, Keefe, Cox, Thomas and Oxley.

Youth: Wills, Crocker, Phillips, Sier

Does that mean we have a list of 37 players (assuming we upgrade the 4 rookies included here).

Howe has to start on a Forward Flank instead of wasting him in the backline. Langdon is No Good and should be moved on with Nathan Brown.

The future may be more miserable than we would wish. The OP's forward line looks like it has about 6 goals per game, on average, in it. It reads like we are clearing space to sign Jeremy Cameron when he comes off his 6 year deal (or maybe the one after that). I look at many of those names and hope that Daicos and Brown are as good as we would hope and that they get good very quickly.

Unless we have a time machine and can go back to October 1990 to play Essendon, that forward-line is, realistically, 4 players (and a lot more improvement from Moore) away from playing serious finals football.

Is this the start of the rebuild of the rebuild - or do people genuinely believe that the players in that forward-line (Moore aside) are suddenly going to become stars?

That forward line has a better look to it but 2 of the 5 guys I'd be OK with aren't even at the Club and one of the others is coming off a longterm injury and probably can't be pencilled in.

I forgot to add Greenwood and Maynard to my IC, plus Crocker and Wills, and Blair...

My team is all about RUN and CARRY. That backline OOZES class and skill. You don't need monsters anymore. You need a system and cool heads with class. Same for up forward.

Hey Hammer ... nice work.

Smith is a bit of a plodder I think ... did very well as a rookie basically playing average AFL footy I thought. His upside I suspect is that Buckley thinks he is very coachable from comments I've heard. I didn't find room for Maynard in my team either, but given how much the club has invested in him (early games), it is hard to see him not getting a start - not saying I agree with that, just that it is likely.

We went back to a more one-on-one (rather than zone) defence in the second half. We need guys who can really be accountable. Wells ... not sure?

If you are after run and carry, I'm a bit surprised you didn't find room for Ramsay and Sinclair. Ramsay has rated very highly in the few games he has got on the field and, when conscious, Sinclair is Mr Run and Carry.

Outside of Green, I suspect the rest is pretty close to the mark.

There's just so many 'depth' players it's hard to keep up. I want to try to establish a very best 22+5 rather than a 'decent' 32+ players. We're too 6/10...we need to get to more of an 8/10. As for Ramsay and the Berg, they'll be starters once they get back from their knees, no doubt about that. I forgot Sinclair cos he's always in and out. Add him to th IC depth list too. WHE won't be a CHF, due to size and injury concerns, but the alternative is White/Cox. Once the game starts, players are pretty much pressing and spreading, so I'm not too concerned about 'starting positions'. I added J.Green cos I think we need a genuine smart ass crumber...I think the red but from North could do OK. As for Smith, he's a cool head and should get even better, but his spot is most definitely interchangeable with a number of players on my IC. I liked Varcoe's work off HB in the second half vs North Melb this year, and Wells will def push into the middle (Adams even played HB this year).

FB Ramsay Marsh Howe
HB Scharenberg Reid Langdon
C WHE Treloar Sidebottom
HF Wells Moore Elliott
F Fasolo Cox Mayne
R Grundy Adams Pendlebury
I Crisp Broomhead Aish De Goey

Stiff to miss:
Sinclair and Maynard, if the opposition forward structure has multiple small either could replace Langdon
Varcoe: WHE takes his spot for mine and went with the youth of Broomhead, Aish and De Goey
Smith: this guy was super in his first year and had to play out of position in defence for the 2nd half of the year, due to our injuries.
Depth players:
White, could go with him instead of Cox, but like Cox as the 2nd ruck.
Blair: if he plays more than a handful of games we have copped terrible injuries again and are in strife.
Goldy: assuming Scharenberg will be right, so going with him in front of Goldy.
Brown: hoping we don't keep him, but if we do and as per Blair if he plays more than a few games we are in strife.
Greenwood: Crisp in front of him, but a handy back up player
Phillips, Crocker and Wills: great first years and hopefully get to develop further in 2017 in the 2's and be ready for the 1's if and when required.
Keefe: could be key defence backup, could be ruck backup, could be ruck/forward backup
Thomas: looked like he was developing into a very good player in 2014, hoping he comes back well and puts pressure on for a spot
Oxley: uses the ball well, a good size, but players ahead of him in his positions of half back or wing. Won't be surprised if he gets traded.
Sier, Brown and Daicos: hoping they all can develop into very good players.

Assuming Witts and Williams will traded and Gault to be delisted by the time final lists are lodged. Also, assuming we will pick a back up ruckman in either the trade or draft period.

We should chase Breust as we lack good marking power in the F50
