I don't think this is as much about N.Brown as it is about Keeffe and Marsh. Jono went ahead of Frost in the second half of 2016 and they are similar types: athletic, decent size, but not very strong one on one. Add Keeffe to the mix along with Brown, who is clearly our best defender on the very big forwards, and there's not a spot for Frost.

Can't blame Frost ... with Merritt going he will play every week at Brisbane (barring injury). He'll miss out on a VFL premiership in 2017 though.

I thought Marsh competed very well one on one. His disposal is marginally better than Frosts but Marshs attempted offensive rebound left Frost in his wake.

Mitch Brown's wife has signed for Collingwood's Netball team. Wonder if Mitch is joining Nathan at the Pies next year?

I'd be happy to keep Nathan and get Mitch as well as he won't cost anything under the free agency rules. That should shore up our backline with Keeffe coming back as well. The loss of Frost then will have no effect.

With Cloke we have to put our foot down and don't accept anything over pick 50 for him and if Bulldogs don't budge, hold Cloke to the last year of his contract.

One of Mitch Brown (FA) and Eric MacKenzie would seem likely given Frost is going.

I hear you BIFC but I think part of the logic is to get Cloke's salary off the books to free up funds for incoming players. I would love a pick in the 30-40s for Cloke but I think it will be a 4-5th rounder. Free up the money and gather points for the FS picks.

Not sure it has to follow. We'd seem to have enough tall defenders:

Reid, Brown, Marsh, Keeffe

And ~190cm medium/talls:

Howe, Scharenberg, Langdon, Goldsack

I don't think Mitch Brown is a great fit. There are other clubs where he'd be much more likely to get a game.

Yep, can't develop them so get rid of them...

Sorry to see Frost leave, if it happens. When he made his Collingwood debut in the AFL he nailed the best opposition forwards in the game.

This form wasn't seen in in 2016. Why? I don't know. But the talent is still there. Its probably going to bite us on the arse when we play Brissie in the years ahead.

He'll replace ranga Merrett at FB and inherit his locker full of sunblock

3 years ago i would of said get Mitch brown, but hes as injury prone as Nathan.

No thanks on Mitch.

I think the pies have a secret trade up their sleeve that the media has not gotten a hold of yet.

But i am kind of dissapointed that Frosty is going. I mean hes not a key defender size that would take the key forward at Brisbane, like a Boyd size forward from the dogs etc
Brisbane still need another defender.

The greatest sin of an AFL footballer is to go to ground. If it happens once you can forgive ( Ryce Shaw in the 2003 GF), but if it happens more than once you automatically rule a line through him.

So won't be sorry to see Jack go, as he is a really nice guy and hope he can resurrect his career at Brisbane, but please don't think this is going to bite us on the arse, because I can assure you it won't.

I think it was always going to be one or the other, couldn't afford to let both walk in the same off-season. Seems like North value the compensation they're going to receive from Wells more than they value a potential approach for Brown.

This is not an issue as North can send a late pick to us for Brown. That gets around the compensation issue for North

Doesn't mean we'd accept a late pick for him if we offload Frost.
