Let's put aside the fear and trepidation for a moment and imagine that we have a fully healthy list next season.
Here's a poll of selected players that for whatever reason (many injury) played less than 15 games in 2016. Who are you most excited to see more of?
No room in the poll for:
Taylor Adams (14)
Marley Williams (11)
Ben Crocker (10)
Jack Frost (10)
Josh Thomas (0) _________________ Well done boys! |

Elliott, Ramsay and Scharenberg are the three I'm excited to see return in 2017.
All will enhance the team in some capacity. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

Elliott is the possible matchwinner on that list, so it's him. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

I said Scharenberg, because it will be his 4th year and despite injury in the first 3 years, if he can't get on the paddock and show something his drafting will be a bust. _________________ In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away |

I went with Scharenberg if he lives up to the potential we've heard about him he is going to be a gun. I hoping it turns out that way because we could use another great ball user out of the back half. Would make the jobs of Pendles Treloar Sidey much easier |

The real potential difference makers for us are: Elliott, Scharenberg, Fasolo and Broomhead.
They all offer extra class that we have lacked. Get a full year into those four and we look a significantly better team. That's not even to say that Tim and Matt would be picked every game, just having them available lifts the standard. The stalled development of Scharenberg, Broomhead and Freeman (now Aish, thankfully) has been a big blow to our rebuild.
The other thing to look at is the number of defensive players who missed significant games. This hurt our cohesion all year, and with a young defense that is difficult to overcome. Sinclair had a very good 2016 but we need him to play a full season. Langdon for some reason has become much maligned but he was a significant loss. Add Keeffe back to the mix and we have plenty of reason to think our defense will be strong in 2017.
Finally there's Adams. 2016 was clearly his best year, but he only played 14 games. He's become an important player for us and the games he missed hurt us this year. _________________ Well done boys! |

And, happily for us, Langdon is better than all of them. |

I have him pegged as our backline general. Has definite leadership qualities and it will be a big boost if he can play a full season. _________________ Well done boys! |

Shaz, his sidelining for three years has been catastrophic for our recruitment planning.
Things could have been so very different with only a smidgen of halfway decenct luck. |
