Billy was great in finals and so too Picken Jnr.

Even has his dads wacky expression

He seemed to be a pretty average VFL player for a relatively long time, so it's not too surprising, really. He looked like he was too small for the VFL, actually.

What a great mark. A Billy Picken special.
I thought this was the moment that rallied the mob.
If I was a dogs fan I would have that picture of billy junior
taking that mark hanging up over the mantle piece in the pool room.

I thought he was their best - he just refused to be beaten at the contest. I felt that he set the standard the others followed. This, by the way, isn't favouritism - I hate that he won a flag at his first go and his Dad never got one and I express my admiration through gritted teeth.

I would have given the medal to Boyd.

Geez guys, he only got rookie listed by the Dogs because Williamstown VFL club offered to pay half his salary if they picked him up. He's pushing 30 and has been a journeyman grunt tagger for most of his career, he's only really come good this last year.

As much as I've loved watching him this season (and I really really have), if we had picked him up father son, he would have been delisted 8 years ago .

Lets not reinvent history, just give credit to a bloke who never gave up, got the absolute best out of himself and played a bloody good game in a premiership team.

Great game by Picken Jnr. That's one that got away. Wonder why he doesn't wear 25?

Spot on, Jonathan Brown just said he was a bench player with Wiliamstown when he started, but worked his backside off for 4 years before Leon Cameron demanded that they put him on Dogs rookie list when he was coaching there.

Has developed into a great player the last 2 years when released from his tagging role by Beveridge.

Spent some time in the Willi Reserves, and has had to really work to get to where he is now. Its good to see he made a career of it, just another story of needing to work harder etc.

But well done to him, and yeah I think he would have been back in the VFL and needing to work harder for another crack.

I was pretty quiet throughout the game watching from home, but when Liam took that mark, I spontaneously yelled out 'Billy', geeze it was a carbon copy mark.

I did exactly the same.
