(Started watching the Pies "live" in 1977 and saw the end of Wayne Richardson, Len Thompson, Ross Dunne and Max Richardson. Just missed Peter McKenna)

I like that team, I've been watching for a similar time frame.

I'd swap Taylor in the back pocket for Magro and I'd love to fit Ronnie Wearmouth in there somewhere but if you picked a team since 77 based on the best each one could produce on the day, not longevity or consistency, I'd say you've damn near nailed it. Maybe Sav in for BT at FF?

I'd be doing some shuffling to get Jolly in as no.1 ruck and probably Luke Ball if they qualify for games played.

In the future I could see Treloar and Adams being in contention.
Jamie if he was back to his best and Maynard a future smokey.

Craig Davis was one of the best set shots ever at Collingwood.

Maybe that's because his knees were so phucked by the time he came to us that he never left the goal square. Seriously, he could not run at all, but was a terrific mark and an accurate goal kick.

As a 32yo fan...didn't get to see the likes of Daicos (but have still put him in), Millane, McGuane and Shaw at their best, or at least wasn't at an age to completely appreciate them)

1. Nathan Buckley
2. Peter Daicos
3. Scott Burns
4. James Clement
5. Dane Swan
6. Gavin Brown
7. Scott Pendlebury
8. Ben Reid
9. Paul Licuria
10. Paul Williams

Based on your time-frame I suggest Magro and Worthington in for Taylor and Phillips.

Actually, while Phillips was very good at CHB, FB was not his bag. I'd replace him with either Peter McCormack or gary Pert.

I'd swap Beams for Willo on the emrg list. Also would have Sav ahead of BT. Its a fantastic team, a difficult task but you've done a stirling job.

I considered both actually. Even Peter McCormack whom had 10 year longevity at Full Back, but felt that Michael Taylor and Greg Phillips quality over their respective 4 year careers was elite. Magro's mauling in 1980 GF still irks and Worthington dropped off badly in 1982 to be a reserves player.

Thanks mate. reckon Paul had a better and more consistent career at Swans than the Pies. Enjoyed watching his left hand bounces and burst speed.

You might be right about Willo being better at Sydney than Collingwood, tough call, terrific player, I do remember his left hand bounces now you mention it. Stats show he played 189 for Pies and 117 for Bloods.

Did Stuart Atkin have them covered?

No Des Herbert and Geoff Austen just shaded them.

My 2 cents - had to stop at 10. I struggle to find a regular 22'er from 2005-1013 that hasn't been in my favourites.

Peter Daicos
Mick McGuane
Alan Didak
Leon Davis
Darren Millane
Paul Licuria
Nathan Buckley
James Clement
Sav Rocca
Dale Thomas
