Post subject: Luke Breust Update: Interesting | |
|
It's been mooted that with O'Meara being off to the Hawks, Luke Breust's management were told this week his name has been put up for potential trade. You would think that to satisfy the Gold Coast they'll need to do something like the following:
A. Their first Round draft pick "13" and a top 10 player like Breust or Stratton
OR
B. A top 5 draft pick and a middling player: Sicily or Hartung or Duryea
So what could this mean for the Pies. Well it seems that the Gold Coast are leading the way by a long way for Jarrod Witts. We are dying for a small crumbing player like Breust who incidentally becomes a free agent in 2018.
Maybe we can be involved in a four way way deal by:
Traded out:
Gold Coast: O'Meara
Pies: Witts and Oxley
Hawks: Pick 13 and Breust
Port Adelaide: Hamish Hartlett
Traded in:
Gold Coast: Hartlett, Witts and Oxley
Pies: Breust
Hawks: O'Meara
Port Adelaide: Pick 13
Don't think this deal has a loser, albeit am sure others may disagree. Gold Coast want players given their player drain of talent. We need a crumbing forward, Port Adelaide need salary cap space and an extra first round draft pick and Hawks get their man.

I don't want a player from the Hawks cause if we pick him up he turns out to be a dud |

I've never considered Breust a small crumbing forward. The only small crumbing forwards at the Hawks I'd be interested in would be Rioli or Puopolo. |

Breust isn't much of a crumber I wouldn't have thought. Decent player but not much more. Would steer well clear of him as his value, like with most Hawks, will be inflated far over what he's worth. Would much prefer a WHE type. _________________ Well done boys! |

I would love a Luke Bruest. He has missed one game in 5 years and has been ultra consistent as a small forward and HFF. We got Howe in to play the Bruest role as a high HF. What would be better than the real thing?

He kicks straight. Won't suit the black and white.
All jokes aside, he's an out the back or lead up forward, not a front and centre crumber. With our ball 'skills' he'll be lucky to get more than one of two marks inside 50. _________________ Est. 2002 |

^^He's not even very good. Too many players look good at the Hawks because they break teams open and get easy goals. Breust is a bit better than some because he can take a contested mark, but he's still an undersized medium forward at 184cm. I'd rate both Fasolo and Elliott ahead of him.
I'd be disappointed if we traded for any Hawthorn player. We should be looking for value pickups not paying overs for dregs. _________________ Well done boys! |

Would be more than handy for us, yes. Just on the Dawks, if they don't do a North and now retire Lewis, Hodge, Burgoyne and Gibson, and start a rebuild, they have rocks in their heads. Don't think they will though, little angry ant Clarko said theyd all play on last night, dumb tiny dipstick he is. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

If we're giving up Witts and Oxley, I want O'Meara or Rioli, not Bruest _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Do not want Breust. Relies on others to get the hard ball and kicks a goal carries on as if he hard earnt it. I want a time machine. Put Banks on or Rod Grinter or Steve McPherson and Breust would be seeking a trade to the Womens comp. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

Wow, some interesting feedback. I must be a tad blind:
* 48 goal season average the last 5 years
* only missed 1 game in 5 years
* 25 years of age
* has pace
* skill
* tackles
* accurate
* can crumb, lead and mark
And he is considered "old Hawk dregs" by some and not suitable..... Wow there are some real "half glass empty types" on Nick's today... _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

^^He's a player who mostly gets on the end of it. he'd not look anywhere near as good outside of Hawthorn as inside. Similar story with Gunston. These aren't great players they just look it on a dominant team.
He's a pretty good player, it's not as bad as signing Puopolo, but you wouldn't touch him because his value will be far higher than it should be because he's been part of a great team. Same for any Hawthorn player. If we are smart we'd stay well away from any of them. _________________ Well done boys! |

They've just extended all their contracts with 1 year deals haven't they.
On Bruest, be a handy player but think we'd have to pay too much and a player like WHE potentially better value. |
