We have 1 given block buster game and that is Anzac day.
The AFL is not going to take that off us ever!

I would argue when we are playing well ......almost all our games are "block busters". Club wants to improve attendances at our games.....start by actually rocking up and playing well.

Second to your point is the reality is we do have to give and take....Are we suppose to live in la la land and assume we deserve home rights to all 22 rounds we play in the year? |

I have no issue with that idea. Only problem is we open the chatter then to ANZAC day. I can hear the chorus now of "They gave up Queens Birthday ...why not hand over ANZAC day too".
We do fairly well off our block buster games. Unless you want the AFL handing over more money to Melbourne then why not let them have that game and get back on their own two feet.
Yes Melbourne may well treat Queens Birthday as the "grand final" they never get too. It is Collingwood's job to meet that pressure and win the game. |
It's the AFL coffers that are wedded to our blockbuster games. As long as we play 22 games a year I don't really care. Let the AFL schedule whoever they like ANZAC day. QB to for that matter. |

I would rather we got rid of it. Selfishly I can't see it as it is a Mo day and Australia plus do not show Thursday or Monday with exception of finals and ANZAC day.
Personally on the passing of HM get rid of the day. Have a public holiday that is more relevant to Australians or at least Victorians.

I have not attended the QB game in decades, just an utter fraud and waste of space and time.

Yeh, its called Cryonics isn't it, I reckon they bung em in there with ol Walt Disney, who went in back in 1967, or maybe they do a Lenin on them, like in Red square, and drag em out for the big QB bash and party time.

We should feel proud of the QB game. The MFC treat it as their big day of the year. The are so accustomed to being a shit team that finals are not in the equation. The next big thing for them is to play the biggest team in the competition and that is - you guessed it - The Mighty Collingwood Football Club. It is obvious that they hold us in awe.
For Melbourne supporters Christmas comes twice a year.

it's their home game so they can do what they like. perhaps we could take a leaf out of their books and parade our former stars a bit more than we do.
