Roos have upped the ante to keep him...

Wells is the one I would be interested in getting and it's not surprising NM want to keep him.

There's a good reason players get delisted and Scott is no fool. We need to stay well clear of the four delisted NM players.

Like we did with Levi Greenwood who was out of contract?

Levi Greenwood was 26 at the time and coming off his existing contract which NM wanted to renew. No complaints there but it did lead to the demise of Macaffer.

Yep, fair point.

The Kangas offered Greenwood a contract - Collingwood were just prepared to offer a hell of a lot more money for more years.

Jury is out with 2 years to run on Greenwood, and as much as I loved Levi's efforts in 2016, we are hardly clear winners from this decision.

Sorry to moot the point CC; but if Beams hadn't up and left to go to the Bears, I doubt we would have entertained the idea of poaching Greenwood.

Reported on 7 that Wells will leave the Roos.

We've been closely linked, so this one's heating up.

FWIW (probably not much), I totally agree with your overall comments for just once in my bloody life Daz.
This is a rediculous situation but I keep saying to myself that it is all pure speculation, at least at this early stage... Rolling Eyes

Yes, I know Laz, but I was saying the same thing before we drafted S Buckley, Lynch, Russell, Young etc... if in doubt, go to the draft!

I was quite pleased when we drafted Scott Russell.
It was Carlton's Jordan Russell. Not Scotty.

I seriously can't keep up or should I say who to believe. It's been reported for days that we have offered a 2 year deal compared to 1 from the Roos. Since the Roos found this out they have also upped the offer financially as well as a 2 year offer. Reports are they are to late.

This is one I hope we get, someone with some class. I understand he's injury prone but he had a good 2016 playing 19 games.

Very good player.

There are three we'd be interested in.

(1) Drew Petrie. Reliable forward of quality. Also an excellent clubman and a good influence around the younger players. Has minus one year of quality footy left in him. If you want Petrie, the time to get him was 2013 for a two year contract. Been barely worth his place in the side in 2016. Stick a fork in him.

(2) Dal Santo. Probably has a year left in him, possibly two. A wonderful kick, you'd love his delivery off half-back. But not going to be a major contributor and I'm not sure we can afford to slip him in at the expense of a more capable genuine defender such as Ramsay, Maynard, or Berg. Berg and Ramsay can kick pretty well too, and while Maynard has horrendous brain-fade moments now and then, these will slowly disappear from his game as he gains experience. In short, it's hard to fit dal Santo into our 22.

(3) Boomer. A quality finisher who gets his own ball. Still one of Norf's best four or five players. You'd be crazy to walk past this goal kicker when you never, ever know if we are going to get one, two, or none of Fasolo and Elliott - our only two capable small forwards.

Sign Boomer for 12 months. If Elliott and Faz are both fit (og happy day!), he can play in the seconds or - wtf? - play forward and kick goals just as he always does. Think about it:

HF: Harvey, Moore, Fasolo
F: White, Cox, Elliot

That's a pretty tasty line-up!
