Have any of the winners ever acknowledged the award publicly?

Great work, CC! One question, though – how did Brayden Maynard (1 vote) beat Rupert Wills (3 votes), Darcy Moore (2 votes) and Josh Smith (12 votes!) for best young player? Shocked

Thank you, Brayden is the only teenager in that list and played the most games but the main reason is my wife thinks he is the hottest.

Brayden may have been the 6th best player week in week out (theoretically). The others had 'top 5 on ground' standout performances to grab more votes. Hence why Brownlow medalists don't always win club B&F.

Laughing fair enough.

In any case, backmen get a pretty rough deal in the Nick's BB voting (as they do in most AFL awards), so good call, I guess! (Though I still would have gone for Smith over Maynard, just).

Can you win a "best young player" award at the age of 22 though??

So, I'll assume the answer is No.

Yeah, it's a no unfortunately. We made a fair push to get it done a few years ago (even to the extent of running a PayPal account to collect money for a trophy), but it never quite came together. From memory, the club didn't show a great deal of interest.

Really surprised Varcoe polled so poorly.
Does anyone know whether he had injury (niggles) concerns thru out the year?

He was hampered with hamstring troubles before the start of the home and away season, so it's possible that this affected him more than we anticipated.

Also with higher expectations after a good season in 2015, this may have resulted in supporters critiquing him more harshly and hence him not polling as well as the previous year.

At last !!

A congrats to Pendles - 12 days after we posted him as the GB Medal winner.

I'm puzzled. We have over 4000 members and not one posted to acknowledge Pendles win, until Jezza, a few minutes ago. Sad

I would have done it sooner, but I'm trying to catch up on general discussion posts that I've missed recently due to work commitments.
