I'm trying to follow that.

You started at Mossman and went on the gorge tour (utterly brilliant I agree, I've done it 4 or 5 times), then went north to the Daintree, then headed back south again? Did you cross the river and go through the forest or just got to the river and turned around?

Sorry I was out of order.

Basically: Mossman, Daintree, Port Douglas, Mt Molloy, Atherton, rest day, then Millaa Millaa, Gordonvale & an easy peasy ride on Sunday to Cairns where Mrs WPT will pick me up & well head back to Port Douglad

Daintree ferry is the only place you can cross the river. Did you ride to the ferry crossing or to Daintree Village?

While you're up there, get up to Kuranda for a day. Steam train from Cairns, chair lift from Smithfield (just north of Cairns) or drive.

Years ago I did the bus from Cairns to the chair lift, spent the day in Kuranda, nice lunch at the pub there, then the train back. The train goes past the barron falls which at this time of year won't be much but you'll get the idea

Kuranda is beautiful, was even better 30 years ago before it got popular, the station was covered in flower gardens.

It was frigging cold. You were dressed like you were on an antarctic expedition, so no surprises you weren't cold. Wink

Greetings from Port Douglas on this our last night.Finished the ride on Sunday. Man we rode some hills.

Atherton to Millaa Millaa was about 90 kms with a total ascent of 1.2 kms including a road that had a sign stating Queenslands highest elevation. Great ride and tough day but lots of fun. Got another flat tyre and discovered that my rear tyre had a gash though it. Bicycle QLD employed a mechanic who rides as well. (Kicked myself as I had two spare new tyres at home & chose not to take one. Grrrr) $100 later for tyre and spare......

What goes up must come down 😁. The ride was from Millaa Millaa to Gordontown via Lake Eacham in the crater National Park region. Simply stunning. Beautiful, superb and breathtaking (on par with dem hills 😉). Lots of undulations with some uphills all in anticipation of the piece de resistance that is the 18 km downhill descent on a long winding road where the local authorities closed the road for exclusive Bicycle QLD use (had to leave & finish by a certain time). Post a further 15 kms of undulations it was all downhill and I barely left 40kms per hour as the minimum. Sheer pleasure, exhilaration and joy. Needed to apply the brakes before cornering and as the road was closed: one could widen the angles on hairpin like bends in the road by riding in the opposite lane for short bits. Effen fantastic. Magic.

Our campsite at Gordonvale was too far from town and the game in WA finished too late for me to bother. Incredibly I was able to listen to the game on my little am/fm radio on National Indigenous Radio on FM. Disappointing but a lot to like.

The last day was a simple 28 kms. I followed 2 women who were dong a cracking pace: they carried me & we were motoring at about 37 kms / hr on the flat into Cairns. By this stage Im over tents. Mrs WPT picked me up & we went to Port Douglas where the pool awaited me. Fantastic ride. Met lovely people many of who do this ride annually.

Back to Melbourne late tomorrow night. Its been 3-4 days and I miss 🚴‍♂️ cycling 🚴‍♂️
