What a spiteful little man Patrick smith is.

He is basically a more vindictive, sober Robbo or a male version of Caro.

Massive overreaction and contradictory throughout.

Clearly Ed/Bucks has pissed him off and he is using his position to pot them.

Zero balance- just straight and obvious trolling.

His article is actually a very balanced one, which begins admiring Eddie for the great work he has done for Collingwood and the AFL.

OK I took the bait and read the Patrick Smith article. How does the scuttlebug of a woman scorned by her ex-boyfriend, provide any useful discussion of the forward direction of the CFC?

As Cam said- school report.

The niceties seem to be merely thrown in as an afterthought to provide 'balance'.

To quote Rudeboy "correct weight".

I can't see how Allen can remain if the allegations are correct which increasingly appears to be the case.

If he is found guilty of knowingly hiding a player from a possible drug test then he has to go. So too does Maguire if the allegations are correct for not having done due diligence. If it is true it is amateur hour at a professional club & Maguire's position is untenable.

It could end up being that we may well lose:

Balme, Hine & Allen. If that is the case Maguire too will need to depart.

However, we need to wait till we know more information but my money is on Patrick Smith with an accurate & correct call.

I don't see the upside in appointing Gubby in the current circumstances. If Pert hasn't seen the ASADA brief, then I think he would be unable to make a reasonable judgement as to the risk involved.

Firstly, it's McGuire- a bit of due diligence by your good self would see Fatprick Smith has a history of 'balanced' articles regarding Collingwood (particularly Ed and Gubby).

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/sport/opinion/patrick-smith/collingwood-push-balme-down-the-pecking-order/news-story/074d497b7de38d60c4264b5a19370479

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/sport/opinion/patrick-smith/blind-freddy-could-tell-eddie-what-has-to-be-done-at-collingwood/news-story/68eb2a3d0c883957996c887a8f8a6f3b

and other gems that are blocked by paywall with great headlines including

Eddie McGuire still 20 years behind the rest us

and

Collingwood to launch further raids on Greater Western Sydney.

He is actually worse than Caro- as at least she takes as well as she gives.

Every single club would have been in a situation where they have had to protect a player- even Robbo made a blatantly obvious reference to our club doing it. So, by your reasoning all clubs should sack their director of coaching/player welfare.

It's a funny time of year- Collingwood isn't in finals and papers need something to write about.

Look at that Redlight.
I agree totally with that comment.
Very strange.

I'm with you guys. They either know that he's going to get off *wink* *wink* or its sheer bloody-mindedness in pushing through regardless. If this is because they are trusting him ala Didak and Shaw in the ute then this is going to blow up in our face. If it hasn't already.

I don't mind Smith at all & his attitudes to Maguire are usually on the money in some if not many respects.

I'm a Maguire supporter but if this is what it appears to be (we don't know all of the facts yet) then he has to go. Mind you I thought he had to go after his stupid comments again this year where he can't separate himself from the boys club whether it be the Footy Show or now 3MMM.
However if there is no case to answer then his position is tenable for the time being.

Hope you're paraphrasing and that wasn't actually written on a report!

I listen in to SEN once a week and that is to hear Patrick Smith. He's smart and witty and like Caro, doesn't follow the media herd. He's also been a big Eddie fan mostly. If he's critical of Eddie's and Collingwood's decision making then I'm inclined to give it considerable weight.

Report written verbatim Neil Wink

I accept your position and others on Patrick/ yet me fees there is something underlying with his push this year- perhaps he is a close friend of balmey?

Whatever it is, just a bit tired of the Eddie/ bucks/collingwood bashing this year particularly

This season began with collingwood 'scandals' and ended up with collingwood 'scandals'- both with drug links.

Barring the blooding of some young guns- it really has been a shitful year and I just want it over (bar the VFL- hopefully they can keep going for a few more weeks!)
