I remember when Dylan Shiel dating Chocco's daughter made him a lock to go to Richmond when his contract came up for negotation a year or two ago.

The Tigers fans still haven't gotten over it...

All jokes aside, he's a terrific young talent. If he is over his knee issues and can be had for a reasonable salary and trade deal, bearing mind our rather lean cupboard of trade currency and list needs at present, and (most importantly) is part of a long game to get Tom Lynch, then I'll happily see us take the punt...

Realistically we are no chance. We are talking minimum 1st & and 2nd round picks plus a player.
We also have Daicos and Brown as F/S picks to pay for.

Yup; we sold the farm last year to secure Treloar.
We have no trading currency in the coming period to secure a former #1 draft pick.
Watch Whorethorn land him; I reckon they're even taking the piss by leaving their #1 jumper vacant for him...

The only thing we dont have is a first round pick in 2016.

We can still trade future picks. We can wait and see what Cloke/other trades can bring us.

But in saying that, I'd rather not spend too much on JOM.

I dont think we'd want to offer a lot and other clubs would be willing to out bid.

I reckon he'll end up at Essendon.

GCS have stated they want players not draft picks for O'mera. They are desperate for a ruckman and Queensland born players and on ballers. We can afford to over Witts, Oxley and one of either Kosh Thomas or Josh Smith in a deal no other club from Melb could match. Make it happen Gubby!

In the serious stakes he is a absolute elite talent and if a elite talent says he wants to come to your club then you move heaven and earth to land him. That being said we would need to be so very cautious making sure his knees aren't a issue any more.
If he passes a horrendously strenuous medical test then let's go for it.
We won't need as much currency as some may think. The Suns are playing the hardball line but when push comes to shove they could get nothing for him in the PSD so a fair offer would land him. We will need to trump a couple clubs but we have currency.
We have Oxley as a player along with a couple others who may be trade bait and of interest to the Suns. They have 6 draft picks this year in the top 35 already so they've might happily take Oxley a 3rd round pick this year and our 1st round pick next year.
He is a gun and working with Pendles Treloar Adams Grundy in our midfield he would look sensational
Let's not forget this kid was rated the best 17yr old in decades when he was drafted and when he took the field he didn't let anyone down.
So if he's knees are good to go then let's go for him

^Prefer not to trade next years 1st rounder.

I think a player + a first and third rounder is too much.

Correct, the Gold Coast want ready made talent and with their Ruck stocks at an all time low: hello Keegan Rooksby, Witts would have to be of huge interest. helps that Eade has come out of the Pies system and would have relationships with potential trade options.

They shall want a high draft pick and who knows, if we secure second rounders for either:

* Brown
* Cloke
* Marley

and then added to our existing 25, maybe we can parlay that with GWS into receiving back an 1st round draft pick So what could the deal look like for O'Meara?

* pick 25 + traded in 2nd round draft pick to GWS for their pick 15
* on trade pick 15 + Witts and Blair to Gold Coast for O'Meara

Gives Gold Coast a good draft pick, a 10 year Ruckman and an ex Premiership player "solid citizen" whose only 26.

The Cauldron(Smith/Bartlett) had a "caller" saying
Pies knew about the kerfuffle on hidden player
before Allan return
This unamed said Allen deal was a player would
come with him

Take from that what you want

Nail on the head Bally, if the club wants to chase a top talent this year we are going to have to give away something of real value to get him in. It would take trading out someone like Sidebottom to get the picks to get him. We just dont have the currency we spent it all l;ast year people.

I like your thinking. The only thing is Barry that we have one of two options.

- Trade for him.... Gold Coast has set the bar high (two first round picks) as it stands we don't even have one. Witts at best and I really do mean best case scenario will maybe net us say a pick late first round (17 or 15 something like that). We still need another first rounder. Cloke (maybe second or third round) Brown (second or third round) Oxley the same.

The other factor is other clubs really want him. Bombers are willing to trade pick 1.

- Pre-season draft Miracle happens and he says I only want to go to Collingwood.....I am going into the pre-season draft...he would not making past pick 1....which is not ours.

Like i say with the Bombers sniffing round I can see Bombers trading out pick 1. Gold coast give Essendon pick 9 and O'Meara ...something like that it might be a slightly later pick.
