Have we any confirmation that the person assaulted Mr. Abbott in relation to the ssm debate?
He may well have but until this is confirmed we are all jumping to conclusions.

That's how we keep fit brother, running our mouths off and jumping to conclusions.

Of course you can't control what an individual supporter might do. But it doesn't look great.

Edit: sorry RR, didn't see your post!
Has anyone been charged? Anyone witness this? CCTV Footage? As an ex PM I think he still has his own security plus Abbot is handy with the fists and finally and amazingly the person had a "Yes" badge.

I call Bullshit.

Abbots escort witnessed the whole thing and accosted the guy, if Tony had of smacked him he would be pilloried no end.
I still call bullshit at every level. He would have been held and charged to make the point even more valid. This is the kind of shit the DLP used to pull in the 70's.

Why give airtime to the nasty smears? Some people are just incapable of distinguishing the relevant from the trivial.

It can only be true if it suits your narrative hey Lefty?

enough of the name calling please, lets try and keep the thread friendly. Smile

Up yours

From news.com.au:

All it was is I saw Tony Abbott and Id had half a skinful and I wanted to nut the c***."
I want to divorce myself [from the same-sex marriage issue] not because I disagree with their stance but this was nothing to do with that. Thats just my personal hatred.

*edit: there are claims the man was wearing a ssm badge at the time of the assault. To be confirmed.

Double standards are easy to find when you're looking for them.

I've seen a lot of cheering from the love and tolerance crowd, no condemnation. All the vile abuse and violence from the Yes camp has turned 1 Million votes No according to polling. All the Yes lot had to do to win this was either give reasoned, polite responses to questions people might have and otherwise shut up and they would've done it in a canter. Just like Hillary and Remoaners, they're their own worst enemy.

I had a 40 minute "discussion" on Facebook last night with my lefty cousin. Her and her cheersquad were all cheering and saying Abbott deserved it. Could not get the point to stick in their pointy heads that this kind of shit totally detracts from their cause, no matter how hard I tried.

Great to see the responsible people condemn the act. It shouldn't matter which side of this or any other debate someone is on, wanting to "nut the C*nt" and doing it is pretty shit, cheering it on is bullshit.

Lots of fkn hypocrites out there, fanatics, who undermine reasonable debate and discussion (on both sides)

This is going to get very interesting very quickly if there wasn't a vote Yes badge anywhere in sight.

Yes, the real battle is always between the 95% of people who have little hatred and wish to live in peace, and the arrogant 5% (on either side of any issue) who consider intellectual hatred a justification for violence. One has to wonder, though, at a society which raises such casually and ignorantly violent men as Abbott's assailant.

Again from news.com.au:

Have you seen the guy? feral anarchist. SSM wasn't his driving force, 6 hours in the pub was and hating Abbott.

Still, he was wearing the sticker and the mud sticks.

Only in (what passes for) the minds of people who should by some appropriate means have been denied the vote on grounds of irreversible mental impairment.

he's the perfect sterotypical portrayal of the extreme left nutjob that the No vote is banking on.

Want to do the reverse? Pay a granny wearing a vote no badge to try to hit Shorten with a bible.

To be fair the the perpetrator (no not the Mad Misogynist Monk) he thought he would only have one chance to have a go at The Mad Misogynist Monk so I understand that.

I'm sure a fair minded magistrate would see the bigger picture and say well look what the Mad Misogynist Monk has done to Australia and how divisive the has been to the whole country let alone to the body politic of Australia then there may well be leniency involved: after all he did what most of us would like to have done too didn't he? Wink Razz I suspect justifable assault would be out of the question.
