Post subject: Boomer Harvey, a one year Magpie ??Reply with quote

Look, with our retirements of veterans ourselves, swannie, tooves, the Caff, and now Cloke off somewhere likely, we could do a lot worse than offer Boomer Harvey a one year contract. We have just lost some great senior players, we cant be too young next season. Boomer is still playing great, match winning footy, and he would be an inspiration and mentor too our young kids. ! Why not offer him a one year deal, too round off his career, we have heaps of room in our salary cap now. Idea

Thoughts ?

We don't need a selfish player.

Ummm, but we do need a very experienced champion, and his vast footy smarts too help our bevy of young kids. Shocked

I wouldn't be against it.

@ a guess if he was offered $250k for the year, it's not like when you retire from footy, you will walk into a job that pays that sort of money.

No Point. We will not win a premiership next year and we need to give younger guys more experience.

Pass. Would rather take a chance on a draftee who could potentially be the next Boomer or Swanny. Might take a different perspective if we were playing finals this year and looking good to challenge the top 4 next year so more than likely 12 months early.

He's been a great player but is also a bit of an ego maniac. Not sure how that will be an inspiration.

NO, I'm not interested in the other North sacked players, only Boomer, hence this thread.

Jed Adcock would be a more viable prospect.

The idea has some merit, and Boomer could provide the team with reward for effort as a clever small forward in something like the role that was intended for Swanny this year. To many times the efforts of the backs and mids was lost when the ball hit the forward line.

That being said, Hayden Ballantyne would be an even better option.

Not interested in Boomer at all. May as well play the kids. Maybe sign him to the VFL side.

Brereton said it best when he described him as selfish in 2011. Having said that, Treloar has a similar give and go mini-game. At another club he wouldn't have the trust or menace when demanding the ball that he has at the Roos. Best I could see would him petering out ala Dougie Hawkins at the Royboys.

Plus what recruiter would take a what 38 yr old???
