Post subject: Gubby Allan to raid Roos Players | |
|
I did mention 2 weeks ago in advance of media reports that Brad Scott was to bone messrs Dal Santo, Boomer, Petrie and Firrito. Now I know there have been murmurings on SEN and on the Footy Show last night with Damian Barrett but what I can say from my same sources is the following:
1. The Pies are talking to all of Boomer, Dal santo and Wells
2. Brad Scott is pissing his current players off with his pursuit of Michael Barlow and Chris Mayne whom are both entering their 29th year in 2017
3. Wells has only been offered a "non negotiable 1 year deal in 2017 with no triggers for 2018 plus a pay decrease on his recent $550,000 a year deal
4. Boomer's Manager Shane Casley has been called by Gubby
5. The Eagles coach Adam Simpson is "right into" the pursuit of Wells given their past connection as teammates and the "go home to WA" factor
6. Pies are pursuing some of these trades based on 2 factors: 1. speed and polish plus the fear that Jamie Elliot's back may be career ending according to Jamie's uncle.

I am sure he is, I am sure he didnt want to go out this way as no one does.
But, I think his playing days will end unless Brad Scott flips on this one, I cannot say I am surprised that the guy is pissing people off.
Probably sits around the clubroom whining about shit every day. _________________ Ðavâgé

Well I don't comment on these player to club speculation issues as a rule but I'd be bloody gobsmacked if Collingwood got Boomer. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. I'd be prepared to give Wells a go but would also only offer one year. _________________ kill for collingwood! |

I'd give all three a one year contract for sure, we need the experience and they're all solid performers and smart footballers. |

Wells if fit would be brilliant, unfortunately he struggles to get a full season on the park _________________ " Ohhh Banksy and out comes the Note Book".

It's pretty clear that our period of "constant regeneration" is over.
Allan has come in and said enough is enough, target whoever we can get through free agency and trades, regardless of age.
You can pick up as many FA's as you want, as long as you have cap room, and we have plenty of that.
I'll sit back and let Gubby do his work, can't be worse than what's happened in the last 5 off seasons. |

Well Inxs 88 I was very very impressed with your earlier reporting about the 4 being boned.
A few posters fobbed you off but you were 100% correct, so well done.
But I don't know whether I would have any of them.
But I did note Boomer kicked 34 goals this year and our wonder hobbit kicked 15.
So Boomer for the hobbit would be a good start. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

Not really sure why we'd bother with either Dal Santo or Wells, but I agree that free agents are worth rolling the dice for without having a heart attack. Nothing lost, hopefully something gained. |

prior to gubby allan coming in, those at the club have said as much. we have the core of our list. we're adding the polish. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

Dal for a year? Is bucks that antsy for finals that he will put kids development back a year? His coaching career is on the line I guess to scrape into the finals with these old players |

I would pursue the Wells one as his pace, kick and slick moves would be great. He would come for free and if we got 40 matches out of him, I am sure he would propel us to the finals. A real point of difference player who won't get tagged and could be great! _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |
