Class act, Larrikin who cared a lot more than he let on, absolute gun on the field.

Cheers Swanny, thanks for the memories, you owe us nothing. We owe you.

When a player retires it's always sad,but this just goes beyond sad.I feel like it's a loss in the family.Swanny was one of my all time favourite players, and probably the best I've ever seen, along with Peter Daicos.

A true character,a larrikin,a one of a kind personality,we won't see his likes ever again. He truly is the last of a dying breed. The club won't seem the same without him,and it's devastating to think I won't ever see him waddling around the ground kicking goals again.

Enjoy your retirement Swanny. It was great while the ride lasted.I just wish it could have gone on a bit longer. Sad

Will miss his irreverence and on-field brilliance. A great player and, in case it hasn't already been mentioned, Nick's BB favourite – a six-time winner of the Gavin Brown Medal (which will only be given out for the 11th time this year!).

See ya Swanny! I will miss your influential presence on the footy field. No longer will I feel "that Swanny goal" is just around the corner. You all know the "Swanny Goal", late in a quarter when we need a goal and the ball is about 20m out from goal with Swanny lurking around, you just know it's time for him to snag a cheeky one.

The only regret I have for you is that you couldn't get that final send off game that all champs get when they retire, or most get. Like Bux whom also missed out it is sad to see your last game against the Swans with that injury.

Collingwood just won't be the same without our Brownlow/Premiership champ tormenting the opposition, much like Daicos when he retired, it feels like the end of an era.

Go and enjoy life Swanny without all the media hassle. The Rat Pack is waiting!

Gee the club wasted no time sending out the Swan tribute merchandise emails.

They don't muck around when there is a buck to be made!

In the top stand of Magpie greatness. After such durability, in one moment it was all over. Thanks for the memories and for the incredible achievements, champ.

Nice touch too see ol MM front up there, perched next too eddie, he thought a lot of his boy Swannie, obviously. Mick must have had a long, hot shower, to wash off all that bluebellie scum still clinging too his boday, yes, he is now welcome back at Magpie land. And it took the Great Dane too mend those fences and get him back. !

Onya Swanny, great career including premiership and Brownlow, shame it ended the way it did and you didn't get a last hurrah. Collingwood salutes you!

Cool I've always like your sense of humour Swanny, up there with the best, but your footy was on another level absolute: finesse, smarts, strength and power all in one package.

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;

And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.

Just proves you don't have to be a robot to be a champion of the game.

Been said already, but it really now does feel like the end of an era.

I doubt there's been a more loved Collingwood player in my lifetime.

He stands amongst the all time greats.

It was great to listen to Mick talking again today, it just felt like yesterday, and for me the animosity i felt towards him after his Carlton episode is all gone now.

I hope someone from the current generation can pick up the baton from Swanny, and bring some smiles, fun, toughness and wins back to Pie land.

Hard to know what to say.

How do you replace a guy/player like Dane Swan?

I'm gutted that we couldnt get to see him play one final game.

258 games. We could have seen him push 300 if not for that injury in round 1.

We'll miss him dearly on the field and around the club.
