why would he keep going around again.
It was a bad injury and what is there to look forward to in 2017?
Would have made the decision that it is highly unlikely for us to have a tilt at the flag next year.
So it is the top paddock for Swanny. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

Shame if true, but copping an injury like that when you're 30+ wouldn't be easy to come back from, he's a dead set legend not only of our club but the AFL in general, even most of my Pie hating mates have have a soft spot for Swanny. _________________ Defender...........

Sad he had to go out on such a rotten note, injured in first ten mins in a game in which we got smashed up in swannieland. I hope he realises retirement is forever, I guess he has thought it thru, I was really hoping hed give one more season, and help our kids, and go out on a great note. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Very, very sad if true. An amazing player, and despite the acclaim he has had, strangely underrated. Top 5 in the last decade, possession machine and match winner, untaggable, consistently excellent and durable with it.
Absolute superstar. |

It's not the injury, but the lack of incentive. Swan knows we're years away from a flag so why play through pain for a bottom 8 finish.
Is there a chance of him retiring and then being coaxed out of retirement by the Hawks? |

Agreed, when he was in his best ever form... no one was even on the same park. |

mark is pushing this story because his "ground breaking" story he was going to post on Monday about Hurley fell through
Total Rubbish. even a broken watch is correct twice a day. I mean its 50/50 chance that hes right. and thats better odd's then the crap the Herald Sun puts out anyways. |

Yeah, very good point. Best to wait until the fat lady sings.
Swan's new bar (version #2 post arson attack) is to open soon, so he's got a tempting distraction to absorb his time. If the fun of his new venture takes hold he might decide to retire from AFL footy, and fair enough too if that's what he chooses. He's earned the right to make his own decision.
If he does to decide to stay with the Pies it will speak of his view of the club's prospects in 2017. Or else why bother? A never ending party at Club Swannie would be much more appealing. |

He told Lazza at a sportsmanship night in Bendigo recently that he's enjoying life away from footy but I think it'll be decided by his foot and how well it pulls up once he's got all the hardware removed. |

I'm led to believe a photo of Swanny and Marley Williams hanging out with Dustin Martin and a whole host of Richmond players at a boxing match only days before we played the Tigers did not go down well with the leaders at our club.
Swanny has been my favourite player for years so I'll be sad to see his career end like this, but dem's da breaks. |
