It appears that the club is strong in its support for Bux.

So just as a suggestion....

Hire Paul Roos as a mentor for Buckley, I mean Melbourne have undone us recently so he knows our so called "game plan".

Does not have to be visible but a private adviser/mentor.

For hells sake we have to do something and if the club is adamant in its support for Bux, then they must give him all the tools possible to succeed and if he doesn't piss him off!

My love of the Collingwood club is no more or less than all on here and
as talked of in other posts the passion and dissapointment can and has
turned to frustration right at the coal face[i mean during and just after a
defeat]

After cooling down and reviwing the game with quik looks at replays I see
positives[and negatives too] and think "Lets keep some faith in what they
are trying'

Not a lot to hang ya hat on but sucsess has many fathers
Defeat is the orphans life

I said last year bucks gets a run at it until the conclusion of 2016. I have been a fence sitter this whole time waiting and waiting. looking for positives, looking for progress.

The season is not over so my final conclusions are yet to be fully drawn.

But....thus far (and we are in the deep end),

*I fail to see bucks getting the best out of the players who have taken the field,
* I fail to see development in players who should be
* I fail to see a game plan with a good plan B
*and I fail to see his reactive side in the coaches box.

Its been this way for a few years now. Nothing has changed. He's been given a shot and then some.

Sadly I don't see he has enough games left to turn my opinion around. and that's a shame. I have a lot of love for FIGJAM.

That said and as the OP points out between the lines, he will likely coach us in 2017. So there is some merit in at least doing something. But I don't like the idea of throwing band aid solutions like Paul Roos at the problem. Rather the problem needs to be removed. This is not likely. Therefore a clean out of some of the assistant coaches would save the boards face to some degree and be at least a little proactive.

Personally I will conclude my thoughts at seasons end as I promised myself. I will then say it once or twice as I have above without harping and whining about it for a whole season. And I will then continue to support the team on a weekly basis. Not much else to be done.

Forget about game plans and coaches. It's all about the ruck. When Grundy wins the centre square tap outs we invariably win, but when he gets beaten there, we lose. It's that simple. Hopefully he'll be even better next year. Right now he is a fabulous ruck rover, but rarely dominates the centre square taps the way Gawn does for the Dees. If we can improve in this area, and find another key forward to replace Cloke next year, then we should enjoy success.

Grundy has this yr continued his improvement +
Moore has mirrored what he brings +
Wills has come in almost when hope gone +
Aish has taken demotion and lifted after return+
.
All the positive's to give us hope

Of course there have been negatives
DeGoey after impressive ,16 did not
take it to yr 2 a minus
Cloke inconsistancy a minus
Not able to have Moore and Faz for say a clutch of
a dozen games on the trot a minus
By no means the season all up but thing to like and not like.
Let us pick ourselve up,dust ourselves off and try
again cos that folks is what we got

Guess each year there is the old injury factor.

Whilst it is not a excuse, it is a factor and it makes it hard to really judge Buckley.

Scharenberg was earmarked to be that back line distributor went before a ball was bounced in anger.

Elliot couldn't get on the park.

Swan got out there for 1 minute.

Positives I see are that Grundy has taken a big step. Treloar will be worth the draft picks we paid to get him. Aish is now starting to show that he has special qualities (those marks under heat last week could be a good example - yes I am talking to you White).

Unfortunately some of the old premiership fav's are finished. From Macaffer, Toovey, Cloke I think they are past it.

Would love to see Buck's get a good run at it without injuries, but 17, 14, 11, 10 and currently 8 worries me.

Thought Balme was a mentor to Buckley. Anyway, Roos is going to the US next year and if he was anywhere, it would be mentoring the boys at either Melbourne or Sydney.

Buckley is a big boy now being in the AFL coaching game for 5 years. He can handle himself. If it doesn't work out next year he has only himself to blame and you can put that down mostly to overrating our list.

I'm pretty sure Bucks is mentored by a former champion triathelon athlete, whose name escapes me (Trevour Hendy?). As well, obviously Balme is there to bounce ideas off as he was, after all, previously a senior coach himself.

Balme's coaching record by year was 10 wins, 14 wins (including 2 finals), 9 wins, 7 wins and 1 win from 9 games. He last coached about 20 years ago (finished round 9, 1997).

I'm guessing you don't consider Balme a likely successor to Bucks? Rolling Eyes

Bucks will see out his contract, and if he fails with a largely uninjured list, then we don't reappoint him and move on either Bomber Thompson, or Roos. Even Sando himself may be worth a long look at.

So Bucks had 2yrs under MM and now 5 yrs as top coach --plus some Academy coaching before he understudied to MM

So apart from Academy 7 AFL years --gee thats a bit
of time in the coaching system
