Keep the sack. He would have little trade value but is a great clubman, gives his all and his work ethic on the track and on the ground is valuable inspiration to young players even if he plays mostly VFL.
He's also damn handy insurance as he's so flexible. |
Always liked him, but I wonder if there's any truth to this rumour that was posted on BigFooty that he may request a trade at seasons end.

A bit harsh I think - although he is clearly on the borderline now. He is a very flexible type and I liked him in defence as our kick in guy in 2015.
We will likely lose Swan (retirement), Toovey (only managed one senior game in a year where we have struggled to find 22 fit players) and Macaffer (only a few senior games and papers appear stamped). If you add Goldsack to that list we lose a lot of our most experienced players. |
I think you can add Brown to that list too, he just looks so outa sorts now, the upside is we get Langdon and Ramsay back in, so that's the future. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Browny has never really been a great player, but he played his role under the Malthouse game plan. He was always a questionable kick and somewhat slow.
Now is is even slower and is surrounded by kids who can't kick.
So we off load him and replace him with which other strong big man? I suspect we don't have one and thus Browny's continuing position in the team.
On last night's form, only one of our defenders earned his pay-cheque and that was Smith. At least he delivered to a teammate on most occasions which is more than Brown, Williams, Reid, Marsh and Howe could manage. _________________ After the epic draw comes the decisive knockout!

Brendan Whitecross from Hawthorne may be available but has had knee issues 2 X reco' but is back playing senior footy.
Better than average kick so in our side would be considered elite kick but is a Qld kid (coached through junior talent pathways up here by Wayne & Craig Brittain who rated him very highly as a 15-16yr old) so he might want to head home and take some of the big overs on offer up here
Opinion he is worth a look at minimum been in a good system |

We can't seriously contend with a bunch of kids and little experience.
I still maintain that we should have got Stevie J for next to nothing last year. In that vein, we have a chance to get Bartel for not much if rumour mill out of Geelong is correct. Given we stand to lose a lot of games experience again, if we are to be contenders and not pretenders we need some quality experience. He's in his twilight years, but comes from a quality organisation and would be a huge asset off half back (potentially with Varcoe) leading our young backline. Recent Geelong IP might also be helpful, but I'm not sure who our "Danger" would be in "give it to Danger".
Right now (looking at various draft ratings), I'm hopeful that Brown and Daicos will survive past our second round pick so we can make a genuine pick around 25 (with reported quality of this "flat" talent draft going to about 40) and then, if Hine wants them, counter-bid on Brown and Daicos with the discount and pay the points from third and subsequent round picks (if necessary, going slightly into deficit). _________________ All We Can Be |

While we are at it, throw a heap of $ at Tom McDonald who is uncontracted for 2017. Would free up Reid to move forward so we end up with a spine of:
FB Brown/Frost
CHB McDonald
C Pendles/Treloar/Crisp et al
CHF Reid
