Yeah I posted a link in the WTF thread, just unbelievable that anyone, let alone three grown men, thinks this is appropriate. They should all go to jail themselves, general pop.
Thank god it's been exposed.

The Northern Territory shouldn't ever be allowed to be a state. It is a redneck pioneer place in many areas with incompetent management in the public service & bureaucratic structures. The CLP government is incompetent if not corrupt & needs to be held to account. That account will never be able to occur in the NT unfortunately (selling or leasing the port for something like 30 years to the Chinese ffs)?
Some of the other issues that cut across here include:
1. Entrenched racism (despite there being white offenders (the minority),
1.1 There are twice as many young aboriginals incarcerated since the royal commission into black deaths in custody more than 25years ago
2. Grog: (the current government LCP government has allowed more grog to be sold not less
3. Stupid laws that incarcerate kids for property offences so that CLP can say they are going to be tough on crime - never trust any government that says they are going to be tough on crime.
4. Poorly trained staff which goes back to incompetent management / incompetent public service

| Amazing how something is done as it's been exposed on the ABC at the same time the Government is trying to get rid of the ABC. More millions spent by the white man on a Royal Commission that will achieve nothing in the end just to make them feel good. |

Just watched the whole episode, by the way. Absolutely sickening and indefensible and if this is happening to juveniles, how are adults being treated?

They're not cops. They're poorly trained prison guards. |
They're trained to fight (4 Corners said they're MMA fighters, but the fights looked like unsanctioned brawls.), which is all well and good but they're not trained in conflict resolution, child welfare, psychology or anything you'd think a youth corrections officer would need. |

^ That's exactly what my psychologist was saying today she did some work up there and has seen it all first-hand. Said the footage was appalling but not in the least bit surprising. The unprofessional cowboy mentality in the NT seems to go all the way to the top, which is amusing when the government can't decide who their leader is (remember that?) but not so funny when you realise that the lives of vulnerable people are in their hands.
