Post subject: Eddie out of the Melbourne spotlight, Pies winning form... | |
|
I'm sure it helps that we defeated two bottom sides in Freo and Carlton, but after our stirring win over GWS, is it too simplistic to draw a direct correlation between Eddie (and his mouth) being out of the footballing (and media) limelight, and our recent return to form? It's as if the focus is squarely in our team and the onfield, rather than our fearless figurehead. I love Eddie for all that he's done for the club, but it's been refreshing not to have to listen to his voice and opinion on every matter (football-related or not). Heck, we even got a decent run from the bumps interstate! Must be a shock for the young inexperienced players to have to put up with so much external noise on a weekly basis due in large part to El Presidente. I dunno, maybe I should keep some thoughts to myself vs publishing them here. _________________ Est. 2002 |

Can't attack Bucks for a week, turn to Eddie. If that fails, Pert. If that doesn't work out, Hine. _________________ Four legged animals good, two legged animals better |

Collingwood's success is directly related to the fact I've barely drunk any coffee recently, have been listening to PBS radio more as well as voting ALP recently _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

It can't hurt the club that he hasn't won the boot in mouth award for weeks...
Name another President that does it? I am sure they are all as good In one way or another... Ours just can't shut up for more than 1-2 months Maximum.. _________________ From Bustling Billy Picken to Flying 'Billy' Elliott, and all others who I have and have not been blessed enough to watch pull on our proud jumper...Gentlemen, I salute you!! |

Name another president that anyone actually pays any attention to what they say. |

My point exactly... Let the players on field actions do the talking for the team...
Presidents should not be so public... The results of Eddie in this role speak for themselves _________________ From Bustling Billy Picken to Flying 'Billy' Elliott, and all others who I have and have not been blessed enough to watch pull on our proud jumper...Gentlemen, I salute you!! |

Eddie is a radio host, game show host and CFC president. They're different roles. When Sydney Swans president is minimising tax, screwing suppliers or raping communities as part of his corporate lawyer / Schiester role, is he acting at that time as the Swans president?
Why are all other Chairpeople allowed separation of roles and not Eddie. _________________ Four legged animals good, two legged animals better |

Duly noted. But personally, it's been refreshing to not have any presidential comments front and centre ahead of our team'sxactusl on field achievements. _________________ Est. 2002 |

But his gaffs have all occurred in his very public roles outside of being the CFC president. The media does like to bring the 2 discrete elements together but surely mature rational adults have the capacity to separate the 2.
I've supported the Pies since 1960 and the administration of the club has never been better than it has been under Eddy. I can't believe there are supporters who seem to want to throw that away because of some media driven crap. |
