As Rookies, throw in 2 years out of football and I would suggest to drop your expectations.

I've got no problem with this at all.

They will only be rookies so they play VFL until they prove that they are ready to return both in an on field and off field capacity.

We've committed to them 12 months ago, rookie listing them again is the right move.

Exactly right Matty, this is a real positive outcome from a bloody terrible situation for the club.

Two fairly experienced ready made AFL players, hopefully they know what this second opportunity means

dave, spelling is important especially if it is a player's name. it doesn't tale much to get it right.

Physically they both should be in top shape, having been 'rested' for 2 years. Keeffe in particular, could find himself in the senior team very early next season.

They maybe but their footy touch is what matters. 2 years out of footy is massive at AFL level.

So Scharenberg is destined to be a bust then ... has barely played AFL, let alone senior football, in three years.

I disagree. A few games is all it takes to start to find touch. The speed is what may stun them, as well as the over emphasis on structure and set-ups these days. But a few practice games, a few VFL games ... they'll be right. No different to a season ending injury. Only difference is their bodies should be top-notch condition.
