Post subject: NSW to ban greyhound racing in 2017 | |
|
Congratulations to NSW.
After a commission of enquiry into the dishlicker industry it was found that:
1. Live baiting still continues
2. The murder of thousands of greyhounds still continues
3. Deceit in the industry still continues
4. Maltreatment of doggies still continues
5. And notwithstanding extensions of time for the greyhound racing industry to get it's act together this was simply ignored
6. And despite warnings that should the dishlicking industry had to clean up their act & that the industry might be closed down, the industry continued to be deceitful & carry on regardless (featuring Kenneth Williams amongst others)
(reminder to self, do not start sentences with prepositions or conjunction words)
Well done NSW, viva animal rights

Devils advocate here. An estimated 60000 greyhounds in NSW how many will find homes? The remainder that don't are dead. Flow on affect is, how many people that are employed in the industry will now be on the dole queue? The same queue everyone whines about free loaders. Just two points and as a third as they want horse racing banned as well. If no racing, the horses then become vermin as they are an introduced species. More dead animals. Big Picture ignored, ramifications are massive. |

I agree with all that. Sure there's some cruelty now and the industry needed cleaning up, but now instead of unhappy dogs there's going to be thousands of dead ones. Sad. |

What bizarre world are we in when the NSW Liberals are banning everything, collecting huge taxes, sinking business and playing the Nanny State and Labor in Victoria unbanned the UFC and cage fighting?
They aren't just becoming the same, now you don't know which one you're getting. |

And how many of those will be killed anyway cause they didn't run fast enough to earn enough money to satisfy human greed and how many more would be bred and killed or exported to Asia for the same reason in the future? And how many animals will now not be subject to horrific and cruel deaths from live baiting?
This shite "industry " who refer to dogs killed due to a lack of money winning ability as " wastage" and even when warned following exposure of their disgusting practices refused to act decently and their " Board" refused reforms - fck em they deserve what they get and more!!
Well done NSW and ACT have followed - big picture seen and action taken.
Now to pressure the other States to follow!!! _________________ “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” |

Can they bring back greyhound racing if they get small monkeys to be jockeys and call it something different? _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

This 100%. The baiting thing must be huge, or the pressure from the gambling industry would prevent this happening. Taxes rule shit like this. This is massive.
As for the dogs, what life? What small percentage of winners have a good life? What is their good life? Run themselves into the ground for a fast buck for the owner? That's no life. Fact is there are too many dogs of all breeds. No puppies should be bred until every shelter dog has a happy, loving home.
I judge people by the way they treat their animals. And shit a lot fail. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

The dog owners / breeders only have themselves to blame.
They were given ample opportunity to clean up their act & they thought they were untouchable in nSW.
Lots of adopt a greyhound to go on. Might be my next dog. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

I have been a greyhound owner, we have found homes for each of them after retirements. How many horses end up as pet food? Not to mention the disgusting practice of racing a 2 year old animal whose bones are still developing.
Sorry if u banning greyhounds then horse racing should be next. |
