Messi! He ties Gabriel Battistuta's all time record of 54 goals for Argentina in full internationals. He's not as good as Diego was but he is great to watch. 3:0 and a semifinal against USA (the hosts) beckons.

Another hopeless challenge on Messi.

Gaitan off with a hammy twinge and on comes Lamela for Argentina. And Venezuela have a goal back through a Rondon header with 20 minutes to play. 3:1. But from the restart, Lamela makes it 4:1.

Another sub. Higuain off and Aguero on.

And the captain Rincon is off with a hammy twinge for Venezuela.

2 minutes of injury time to be played and then Argentina can plan for their semifinal against the USA.

And there's the final whistle. Argentina 4, Venezuela 1.

Mexico v Chile coming up. Chile are the reigning champions. Mexico are, effectively, playing at home, given their massive US supporter-base.

And we're away! Winner to play Colombia in the semi.

Vargas denied by the offside flag. Chile were a whisper from going 2:0 ahead.

Chile get their second, just before halftime. They have looked brilliant, so far.

Chile have their third. They are justifying their ranking as 5th in the world today.

Vargas has Chile's 4th. Mexico are falling apart in the defensive midfield.
