Played at what some have named 'the toughest golf course in the World' - Oakmont.

Jason Day and Adam Scott are yet to hit off. They are in a trio with Sth African Louis Oosthuizen.

The overhead shots of the course shows 200 bunkers and some treacherous greens, where a close to the pin pitch can still roll off the green into rough or sand.

Steven Bowditch, Cameron Smith, Marc Leishman, Aron Price and Geoff Ogilvy are the other Aussies in the field.

Day 1 play was interrupted by rain and lightning, with many not even hitting off - incl. Adam Scott and Jason Day.

American, Andrew Landry got it to 5 under before finishing his round (after 17 holes) as overall leader, on -3

He leads by 1 stroke from Bubba Watson (14 holes) and New Zealander, Danny Lee (13).

Marc Leishman was 1 over, after 14 holes.

Day started with a bogey and Scott, a par.

Cameron Smith is the best placed Aussie, at -1.

Ogilvy and Scott are even.

Leishman and Day are 1 over.

Leishman, Ogilvy and Day are all 1 over.

Day just went double bogey after twice mishitting out of sand bunkers. Now, +3.

Smith birdied, to go to -1. Scott is still 1 under.

Leishman is 1 over and Ogilvy is +2.

Day has a real fight on his hands. 5 over after 11 holes.

Day shot a 76, along with Price.

Bowditch had a shocker - an 84.

Dustin Johnson and Lee Westwood are equal leaders, on -4.

Jason Day is tied for 53rd., on 5 over, and a possibility to miss the cut.
