I do remember the Swanettes towards the mid-1990s there, Glenorchy experimented with dancing girls at one stage and then tried the cheerleaders in 2011. I don't think they did it again after that night game. Once the Akermanis experiment was over they didn't bring back the new mascot either. _________________ Ðavâgé

The International Cup last year featured a womens competition. Australia is ineligible to compete. But teams from NZ,USA,Canada and Fiji did amongst others. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

It says nothing about money or business plans or whatever.
Only the usual motherhood statements.
It will do nothing for our win / loss ratio.
It will distract the club although in a probably minimum way with the main game. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

They probably haven't fully gotten an idea of the business plan, unless they've submitted to the AFL where it's probably a criteria for the license.
I don't think the supporters need to have any info about it, I'd suspect those who matter (AFL, sponsors, board members.) have the outline of where things are headed. According to an article I read there was already a sponsor on board with the team.
Teams going ahead whether people here like it or not, no one has to support it but the club will create it and I assume have it like the VFL where they have their own admin but still be under the Collingwood umbrella with the club having a say in who stays and goes, etc. _________________ Ðavâgé

Seriously?
Our board must have ADD then if they can't cope with the addition of a new sideline. Takes no energy from our existing football staff, coaches or players, just a new franchise. Can't see how it could be a distraction at all. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Our club is in crisis on the field, our coach is under siege, whilst Nero eddie fiddles around with this side show, I'm not convinced. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

I don't see the problem, took a few minutes out of his media commitments that he already does during the week, I am sure he and the board are well aware of the issues.
His job is on and off field performance, he and others entering into the women's league think it's good for their clubs brand. I am sure if there was a quick fix we'd already have it.
We do have a board, and football department for a reason, I am sure everyone is working towards fixing this "on field crisis" without the need to look sad in the press.
It took an hour out of the day at most, I am sure the other 23 were dedicated to figuring out what's going on down at Pieland. Relax, the women's team will have it's own staff they've already appointment one woman to help with the running.
