Post subject: 2017 Round 1: Up to 10 new faces. | |
|
It's hard not to see our team for round 1 having approximately 10 players not selected currently. These may include:
* Fasolo
* Elliott
* Langdon
* Scharenberg
* Broomhead
* Ramsay
* Swan (hopefully)
Father/son Recruits:
* Brown (pre-season form pending)
* Daicos (pre-season form pending)
Possible Recruits:
* 2-3 player trades (eg. Hoskin Elliott likely)
* 2-3 draftees or rookie upgrades such as Keefe & Thomas
Makes it difficult to see how the following players shall avoid being moved on:
* Macaffer (make him Reserves captain)
* Blair
* Witts
* N Brown
* Marley
* Goodyear
* Sinclair (concussion)
* Cloke
* Toovey
* Gault
* Frost
* Golds
A big turnover I know, but desperate times require desperate measures. Reckon a bunch of second round picks may come our way plus some likely player trades or free agency offsets:
eg. Marley direct swap for Ed Langdon or Nathan Brown compo pick of about 35 may then offset a free agency pick up of a Ricky Henderson. For example people!! _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

If Brown and Daicos play in round 1 2017, God help us. |

Only issue with this is firstly what difference the players who are out will be able to make on the squad. By that I mean, say Scharenberg - looks a good player from what we have seen. Sadly he has only played a few games in the time he has been at the club and so effectively will be like a new recruit.
Just how bad is Eliott's injury? I noted that a journalist on the radio a few weeks ago was saying that it could be career ending bad. I only got the end of the segment so missed who was talking.
I agree with your list of players going out. But i think if they all do, do we have the players of experience to make the eight? only time will tell. I dont think we can afford to get rid of all those players in one go. _________________ "To know nothing of events before your birth, is to forever remain a child" - Cicero (Roman Lawyer/Senator) 46 BCE.

I think Frost has more to offer. Yeah, he's a had a bad year but I still think that he can be very serviceable. |

I don't agree with Marley, Frost, or Cloke, a decent coach would have all three firing. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Cloke's form has been up and down even before Buckley got there, his kicking has been an issue since like forever. I think he has a lot to offer still, I wouldn't be getting rid of him,
Sinclair might be lost to concussion which would be sad after he has shown some good form. I am not sure about Marley, I guess if he wants to go home, then we can look ar something there. _________________ Ðavâgé

Swan will have retired.
Josh Daicos and Callum Brown will need a half season (at least) in the VFL. |

Little guys can surprise early. Only have to look at:
* Daniel Rioli
* Cyril Rioli
* Isaac Heeney
* Chad Wingard
whom all excelled in their first seasons and became mainstays early on. _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

Oh it's the "Contrarian" replying again "never posting anything new". Think DeGoey may be 187cm and growing plus not really relevant to a "forward pocket type" discussion.
