I go every single week and have for more then a decade.
Sure it's very hard now but you take the good with the bad.
The thought of having hardly any pie fans there in 2 weeks from now when we lose to Carlton again at their home game is making me feel sick at the thought.
Try and hang in members and keep going. Going to all these losses and cold bad nights makes the good times feel so much more rewarding. _________________ Collingwood = Everything Carlton dream to be. |

Exactly. My WAFL team (Swan Districts) are on the bottom with 1 win and a % of 52..... The positive is our Colts side (currently 4th on the ladder) beat top side Perth (previously undefeated) last week

It's like juniors.
Watching the kids get thumped, occasional win, trying to scrape together a team over school holidays or when you have been hammered with injuries, be positive and support the players as best you can.
After one or 2 years of almost being good enough, get a great bunch of boys together (some in their final year) who are rewarded with a premiership. Forget about all those Sundays spent out in the cold & rain when you see how happy they are. _________________ If you are foolish enough to be contented, don't show it, but just grumble with the rest. - Jerome K Jerome |

1. do you go to games?
All four members of my family are Gold Legends MCG members. We use to sit in N10 and moved to M35 when the Ponny was opened. My wife and I rarely miss a game, (maybe 1 every year or two or when we are OS) Son and daughter go to 80% of the games. My wife and I go with some business friends to the Etihad games when tyhe Pies play there.
2. are you there to appreciate or judge based on little inside knowledge whether we win or lose?
At times I have a tendency to get wound up during the games but overall I realise how much planning, effort and luck goes into winning a premiership. My role is that of a supporter and not an ill informed critic.
3. If you do have a gripe with the club, do you write to the club and offer your constructive criticism or do you whinge on sites like this?
Have not contacted the club in ages. Feel that the club has become less personal over time and feel like more of an income source than a member. Feel that Eddie has more Toorak in him now than Broady and he behaves accordingly. He certainly seems to relate to the big end of town and has less in common now with the normal member. The days of walking around the members seating and talking to the great unwashed are long gone. I always believed that this was one of his and the clubs greatest strengths. The Westpac centre is fantastic but certainly does not feel like our home. _________________ Now Retired - Every Day Is A Saturday |

1. do you go to games?
I do from time to time, living in Tasmania, I've got to pick and choose. I also am not a particularly good live game watcher. I find attending games pretty soulless these days with James Sherry screaming at me, and kisscam. The Collingwood dance troupe almost finished me off.
I'm also less likely to go if nothing is on the line (re: finals) - I was brought up and raised to despise friendlies in soccer and so on. The joy of winning against a hated rival is there, but I lose interest if the best we can do is finish 12th. I still watch on TV, but like a lot of people, if we can't make finals or aren't really relevant, I do drift and spend money and time on other things. This doesn't make me "fairweather", which I believe is the insuation.
2. are you there to appreciate or judge based on little inside knowledge whether we win or lose?
Definitely there to see a win, every single time. The only reason I would go if we can't make finals would be to socialise, catch up with people or have a beer. As per point one, I lose interest if the competitive aspect of the season is gone.
3. If you do have a gripe with the club, do you write to the club and offer your constructive criticism or do you whinge on sites like this?
I think "whinge" is a nasty little kicker. I post on here to vent, not whinge. I would never write to the club, I don't think clubs are for members anymore. I'd expect a trite and cut and paste response. Clubs are corporations, I don't feel part of a club enough to personally write to a Nathan Buckley just because I have a membership card. _________________ We just got nutted at the clearances... |

By the way can someone please inform me and others
Who and what numbers can vote for the board or committee?
It is not the 70000 or so claimed members.
They have no voting rights.
I heard long ago it was only a few thousand.
But I don't know.
Please explain!!!!! _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest.

From memory (and I'll stand to be corrected), it's Social Club, Legends and Captain's members who have voting rights... _________________ I am vengeance. I am the night. I am MagpieBat. |

Correct. Only Social club members have voting rights, Captains and Legends members get social club membership as part of the deal. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Correct.
I have been going to the AGM's for quite a few years. At no point has an alternate candidate been nominated to run against Ed or his board. The reason the voting is limited to those with social club membership goes back to the days when they had to satisfy certain liquor licencing requirements. I do not think that the club has any intent to change this especially when considering the cost of non game going memberships and the fall in the minimum membership cost over the years.
It will be interesting to see what happens if Ed past his use by date or what happens when he wants to relinquish his role. _________________ Now Retired - Every Day Is A Saturday |

A good mate of mine, whom is a Legends member, and pays big bucks for his membership, cut his membership card in half, about four games ago, just before we beat the cats. I chided him and told him to supa glue it back together, but then we got smashed by Port, then the deeees, so I cant see him getting the glue out now. He does love the Pies, just totally cracked the shits over our playing, and has walked. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.
