There are literally hundreds available in chemists and supermarkets.
I recently got into the coconut oil. My eldest daughter was using it and it was recommended for my dog by a few Bull terrier groups.

You can find a lot of links to the benefits of coconut oil but the choice site isn't overly excited about it https://www.choice.com.au/food-and-drink/nuts-and-oils/oils/articles/is-coconut-oil-healthy

Bull terriers are prone to skin disorders, especially the pure white ones. My old boy Daics was always getting rashes and lumps 'n bumps on his skin.

My puppy Pete had these little, pimple like lumps on the inside of both ears and a spotty rash on her belly. Why not give it a try?

I purchased a jar of the magic white oil, applied it topically and added a teaspoon a night to her dinner. To say it worked would be an understatement! The lumps and rash cleared within 10 days and her coat looks amazing!

I now take it in capsule form every day.

I also take fish oil (don't for 3 or 4 days and my tennis elbow is unbearable), glucosamine (without it my knees get sore running), a multi V (gotta love fluro urine Laughing ) & Lysine (this baby definitely reduces cold sore outbreaks and even if I get one it hardly develops).

Do you use any supplements or do you think they're just a fad?

He, oh yeah! I certainly do!

I love coconut oil, use it heaps, I use it on my bald poodle, and the other licks it off, have to be careful though, the younger had pancreatis awhile back.

Try coconut oil instead of butter on toast, a little lime juice and sea salt,
delish, avocado works too.

I take glucosamine, krill oil, calcium and D, and Magnesium, zinc (stress)

I've used the l lysine before. I buy it if I get a cold.

and if I'm training hard I'll use vital strength vital recovery with some whey protein, it's got glutamine, taurine, creatine, aminos, plus vitamins and minerals.

I also use more natural state stuff like Hawain spirulina in my smoothies on occasion, and I like maca and bee pollen (not the Aussie one it's too bitter), and Brewers yeast for B vitamins. I use a lot of cinnamon (stabilises blood sugar) and I'm using turmeric to help my knees.

If I'm feeling really tired or run down I'll get some Clements iron tonic, I swear I can feel it travelling through my veins straight away! (I have low blood pressure, not sure if that's why!)

Seems like you need Stephen Dank. I just take beer and rum.

Nah mate, I'm fit as a fiddle, I don't need performance enhancing for anything!

My body my temple, occasionally gets treated like a pub!

I take whey protein and sometimes Creatine, and only buy aussie made.
have to be careful, industry has poor regulation, some people have ended up with liver transplants and hepatitus from rubbish supplements made overseas

Really?

I just checked, my Macca & Beetroot supplements are BIOGLAN. Says they're Australian 'owned' & have an Australian quality guarantee?
My coconut oil, Natures Way, is Australian made from local & imported ingredients.

There are so many to chose from Confused

Dave, ask Anyone with bad knees that ache enough to make u go to bed at 6pm, that's tried glucosamine if it makes a huge difference. I found out the hard way when I left it home about 8 years ago on a 10 day trip to Qld, I thought the warm weather would be enough. After four days I made a special trip to get a bottle.

And taking magnesium and zinc oratate for anxiety stress, beats getting to the point of needing anti depression meds.

When was the last time you had a full blood check? Do you know the percentage of Australians with low vitamin D. Dangerously low. Too much time inside in winter, and the. Too much sunscreen in summer. Mine was way down. I started on vitamin D, and also spent time outside early before the sun got to strong for my English skin, and in winter I stopped using moisturiser with sunscreen. And now it's normal. How about calcium levels? Another vital mineral that is hard to keep up the way a lot of people eat. Then they don't find out til their bones start crumbling when they hit 50-60.

Hit up some creatine before the gym for a few days. It works! Cheers!

I don't do supplements, but coconut oil is extremely useful for certain ... er ... purposes. If you catch my drift, nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more.

This has been a public service announcement brought to you by David.

I put my beloved geriatric lab retriever cross on glucosamine and the improvement in his mobility was stunning. Raw oats kept his skin and fur in good shape.

On fish oil or krill oil, it's worth noting that recently an anaesthetist asked if I was taking any. He explained that it is a blood thinner and surgeons prefer patients to stop taking it at least a week prior to surgery.

Can you tell me what glucosamine you give him? I have a hard time getting stuff into my arthritic, heart condition, bald, nearly deaf, nearly blind, almost toothless 14 year old toy poodle!

He has had 4 needles of something like the synvic I get injected into my knees, and that's helped heaps. He had the 4 shots last year and it worked, so I took him for them at the start of winter, it really seems to help him especially using the stairs. I tried a pet glucosamine powder and it didn't matter what I put it in, he would not eat it! I put his heart meds in Nutella or salmon spread cos he's amazing at spitting them out the side of his mouth!
