That should thrill those who have forked out big bucks for memberships already. |

Before Ed we had Kevin Rose and it was him that was instrumental in getting Ed on board or at least a smooth transition.
Kevin Rose was no Daffy Duck more like true blue gentleman.
He was probably one of the few people about who was not affected by power.
That is one of the reasons why he is probably Collingwood's greatest ever figure. |
Under Kevin Rose we had clustercluck after clustercluck.
1/ Collingwood Warriors - losses over a million dollars
2/ The John May scam - a Kevin Rose appointment that cost us plenty
3/ The Viatel scam - can only laugh
4/ Selling off properties around Vic Park for catastrophic losses
5/ The banks wanted to wind up the club
We were so toxic, that potential sponsors were hanging up when we rang up.
The greatest ever figure?
You have set the bar so low it is incredible.
For all his foibles, give me Eddie any day. |
And eddie was a great player at collingwood. just like Kevin
Go read the story of robert rose and then you will see what a magnificent man he was.
Eddie on the same perch as Kevin what a friggin joke. |
He was was talking about them as Presidents not as players.Do you actually read anyone else's posts before you try to put them down? |
And I was talking about kevin rose the collingwood man
and do you actually read what I write
The greatest ever figure could not be read as the greatest ever president. |
But that's just the trouble, you don't read other people's posts. The other poster was talking about Kevin Rose as a president not as a Collingwood man,two very different things. |

Yes Doris.
I was the one who got shot down by coolaid or whatever his name was.
So the argument was about what I said first
not what "what his name" interpretation of my statement
I never made any personal comment about kevin's presidency other than to say that power never went to his head.
Read carefully next time. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

I read carefully and I know what I saw.The other poster was clearly comparing Kevin Rose and Eddie McGuire as presidents, then you tried to shift the argument onto Kevin Rose being a great Collingwood person, which is a completely different argument. |

Sorry it is Eddie
Got 5 kicks and 2 goals in his street footy competition in Broady in 1976.
And he had a collingwood jumper on! _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

Well doris that has made my day.
You are now officially my favourite poster on Nicks.
Well at least to our next ding dong.
Thankyou, thankyou and thankyou for saying that. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

You're better than that, thompsoc. I wasn't making any comparison between Eddie and Kevin Rose - I was merely questioning your rather astounding claim about Kevin's greatness. I wouldn't have either of them in such a list (and I doubt they would list themselves, either, were they asked).
Being mildly sarcastic about Eddie hardly justifies your claim that Kevin Rose is "probably Collingwood's greatest ever figure". |

my apology
Got Kevin mixed up with his brother bob.
So now I will say Kevin was nowhere near the greatest.
A long way from it.
My humble apologies again on this thread. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

Not something I've ever given a lot of thought but Kevin Rose probably isn't who'd come to mind if asked. Good honest footballer who always lived in the shadow of his brother. Coaching record at Fitzroy? wasnt anything of note, was a good administrator/president although the club struggled under his stewardship. As I say, without giving any great thought I'd have had Jock McHale as pretty hard to displace. |

1/ Jock McHale
2/ Harry Curtis
3/ Bud Copeland
4/ Syd Coventry
5/ Jack Regan
6/ Eddie McGruire
7/ Harry Collier
...in roughly that order.
Kevin Rose a greater club figure than any of those?
I cannot see it to be honest. The Kevin Rose presidency brought our famous club to it's knees and was days away from ceasing as an entity. _________________ © The Dude ®
