You should have gone Friday, I thoroughly enjoyed it! |
Why would I travel that far in Freezing Cold and Heavy Rain? |
I travelled from Bendigo... my 80 year old father travelled from Ringwood, in and out on a train... just saying! |
It would have been a balmy night compared to Bendigo wouldn't it? |
Yeah, definitely warmer in Melbourne than Bendigo, but I wouldn't be sitting outside if I'd stayed home. |

Jeeezus, when I was a young bloke I used to stand in the freezing pissin rain, blood, mud, urine at Victoria Park, every second week, Yarra falls end, cold pies and warm beer, nothing deterred me back then. |
Best days of my life under the scoreboard end.
The colder and wetter the happier I got because it wasn't crowded and only the

Same here. It was a unique experience, but us dominating in the rain in the final quarter was nothing short of satisfying for those who attended.
It was bucketing down when I left, but it was worth attending. I have no regrets despite the freezing weather. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

The more you hand pass the percentage of turn over increases.
This is junior football stuff.
The current style of AFL football is stuffed. It's glorified basketball. |
This has turned many away that were rusted-on supporters that would never have dreamed of missing any games 10 years or so ago. _________________ "I am a great sage, equal of heaven.

There are some differences which illustrate one of the reasons for disillusionment with football. What would be a legal screen in basketball has been a reportable offence resulting in suspension in football.
It won't be long before more kids want to be wearing a Ben Simmons singlet than an AFL club jumper. The AFL should be very worried. Soccer and basketball, and their computer games, are converting a generation of kids away from football. That really doesn't matter though because the AFL has a new senior employee running a diversity program so everything will be OK.
The AFL really needs to work on its abortion, climate change and immigration policies though as they haven't led the western world on those points as much as I expected that they would. |

I probably saw you many times, as I glanced back at the scoreboard, to check the scores. We always stood near the right hand point post, looking out from the yarra falls end. I was the young longhair guy in Midnight cowboy buckskin jacket, huge pirate belt, rodeo boots, and flairs, ahh, those were the days of a misspent youth. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

The thing that really irks me is the after goal animation when you just want to see the replay. Fair enough flash something up there for .5 or 1 second, but 7 or 8 seconds of waving flags and then cgu is WAY TOO LONG. _________________ Get back on top. |

Funny how things can change. Last 1/4 against Freo and the rain came down - the sparsely occupied lower deck of Ponsford Stand (well, where I was) was suddenly full - and the atmosphere was great. Maybe it was just the concentration of Magpie tragics all being in one area but for the first time in years that game felt like a true Collingwood home game.
Loved it. |
