2 goals in 3 minutes to Spain and Turkey is on the brink of elimination. Spain lead 2:0 just before halftime.

Spain now lead Turkey 3:0 after 55 minutes. This threatens to get ugly.

Belgium 3, Republic of Ireland 0.

Iceland 1, Hungary 1. After the late own-goal that allowed Hungary to escape Odin's wrath with a point, the Reykjavik Grapevine tweeted that Iceland had drawn 1-all with themselves. That's now 2 "1-all victories" in a row to Iceland, who are taking the competition by storm! They remain undefeated in all major international competitions.

Portugal and Austria nil-all. Rinaldo missed a penalty. They will probably qualify for the next round but it'd be funny if they didn't.

Thanks for updating the scores P4S! It's hugely appreciated Smile

France, Spain and Italy have all qualified for the knockout stages so far.

No worries, Jezza.

Group A results: France and Swirzerland 0-all; Albania 1, Romania 0. Overall standings are France 7, Switzerland 5, Albania 3 and Romania 1. France and Switzerland qualify, Romania is eliminated and Albania's fate depends upon results in other groups.

Halftime in the Group B deciders. Wales lead Russia 2:0 and England, despite dominating, haven't scored against Slovakia. If things remain as they presently are, Wales would qualify in top place and England in 2nd, with Slovakia third and Russia out of the tournament.

That is a hypothetical question.

Wales now leads Russia 3:0. England v Slovakia still scoreless - playing 7 defenders, two midfielders, a striker and their goalie, Slovakia are obviously not looking to advance on goal-difference.

... And those score lines don't change. Final Group B standings are Wales (6 points), England (5), Slovakia (4) and Russia (1).

In the Group D deciders, Spain and Croatia are 1-all (Ramos just missed a penalty for Spain) after 75 minutes and Turkey leads the Czech Republic 2:0.

And Croatia have beaten Spain 2:1 with a late goal, while Turkey have beaten the Czech Republic 2:0. Final Group D standings are Croatia (7 points), Spain (6), Turkey (3) and the Czech Republic (1).

It appears that Italy's prize for winning Group E will be a knockout game against Spain in the next round. I think Baresi, Maldini, Tassotti, Albertini and Costacurta will be too good in defence for Spain. Oh, wait, I've lost 2 decades.

The only definitive round of 16 matches confirmed so far are:

Italy v Spain
Switzerland v Poland

Ha ha ha, I found myself nodding and agreeing with you and then realised they were the old guys. This italian team does remind me of the team of that era, though. Rock solid defence and an arsey striker.

Should be a cracking game. Spain are a really good outfit and they should win, but an Italian win wouldn't surprise.

I'm glad it amused someone, Roar. I'm predicting 1:0 to Italy, after extra time. Probably, Baggio or Vialli will get the winner.
