Hamstrung Steve O'Keefe is out of the series.

Replacement ? Bushranger Jon Holland. He took 8 wickets in Victoria's Sheffield Shield win, against Sth. Australia.

Ashton Agar was the obvious choice but is injured. Some reckon Adam Zampa was the go but I think the selectors are 'managing' this very promising leggy.

Holland's place in the Oz A team, to play SA A in a 4 dayer, has gone to Glenn Maxwell.

Play on day 4 will start one hour later than scheduled. That should help the movement with the new ball (as should the wet outfield).

Might also help the drawn result aspect.

Play is underway. Mendis brings up the 200 lead with a four. We have a new ball, so the reviews are reinstated.

Riveting stuff!

SL will be extremely lucky to get a lead beyond 260.

I reckon that is a gettable score for the Aussies.

^^^ It's an interesting question, Lazza. Perhaps the pitch is playing a little better, now - on the other hand, Australia have had no Test-standard leg spinner since O'Keefe got hurt yesterday. The unknown is whether Mendis has just played a masterful innings head and shoulders better than everybody else in the Test (which I suspect is the position) or whether the pitch has become tame enough for a couple of Australians to get going properly, this time.

Looks like we'll have an early lunch, so - on previous days' weather patterns - there's probably between 70 and 90 overs left in this test.

Starc bowls Sandakan (hit him in he midriff and the ball bounces onto the stumps). 9/323. The lead is 237. Starc has 4/70.

Very strange decision to bring Lyon into the attack - the fast men had a ball 9 overs old and had just taken a wicket each in their last pair of overs. Sri Lanka hits out and gets 11 valuable runs from Lyon.

Tail wagging. 20 runs in 11 balls.

And Hazlewood is back, leading almost inexorably to the conclusion that Smith knows bringing Lyon on was a mistake.
