Disappointing news putting all the other nonsense aside.
Jamie when he's on song is a jet, one of the more exciting players we have and our forward line is poorer without him. Hopefully they can get his bloody back right and have him ready and raring to go by RD1 2017. |

We need the kid. He's a real excitement machine and provides the x factor that our forward line really needs.Hopefully the injury isn't as bad as it was reported and he can play some football this season,or at least be ready for next season at the worst. |

yeah me too,
lower backs are a bugger though, ive had disc problems since falling off a horse 30 years ago. have to keep the ABS strong to support it, and also keep everything supple or the hamstrings pull. damn shame will put an end to those marvellous speckys, but he still has bags of talent and effort to give. good luck Jamie, take all the time you need. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

It's not mismanagement, at least on our part. I doubt there's a doctor or medical specialist at any AFL club that is an expert in this type of injury.
So we consulted one specialist and his advice has failed. So we try again with another specialist.
Seems what you or I would do, or anyone else if we had back problems. Keep looking for answers until the problem is either solved or the person with the injury just lives with it for life.
Where's the mismanagement?
Similar to what we've done with Ben Reid in the past, we tried different techniques to "fix him" and the latest one (sending him to germany) seems to be working. |

I reckon the clubs given it every opportunity to heal naturally, hasn't worked and might be time to go under the knife now. _________________ Defender...........

Agree, and as much as we'd be better for him playing, he's also become the face of Collingwood for all the kids who proudly wear the No5 on their backs. |

Foxfooty.com.au understands Elliott suffered a setback at training last Tuesday night that will more than likely see him miss the rest of the season. |
This is the third re-injury Elliot has had. Was flogged in the preseason after he had a back complaint (should have had time off) and then pulled up sore.
Elliot's career is probably in doubt now. |
Another attempt at spin to make the Club and its servants look bad. When has Collingwood ever flogged a player recovering from injury? He was playing kick to kick when he reinjured his back. No contact and no strenuous training or exercise. _________________ Now Retired - Every Day Is A Saturday |

Yeah I hear you Member. Yet another example of the BS this particular poster gets away with at Nick's.....

Jez07 sadly looks for worst in everything, I can now never take him/her seriously as there seems to be agenda with this person which is run down the Collingwood people at every opportunity. Which is disappointing as I believe that this person could have some good knowledge about footy but as I said I cannot believe in this person anymore! _________________ Cheers big ears |

Update on the Collingwood website:
Jamie Elliott suffers minor setback
Sam Gastin, May 17, 2016 3:28 PM
Jamie Elliott will consult with a specialist next week after suffering a minor setback in his recovery from a back injury.
A pars defect injury has kept Elliott out of the Magpies’ line-up for the opening eight rounds of the 2016 season.
He was listed as ‘medium term’ on Collingwood’s injury list, before experiencing increased levels of discomfort after a training session last week.
“Jamie’s recovery has been spasmodic,” Director of Football Neil Balme told Collingwood Media on Tuesday.
“Last week he felt a little uncomfortable with it and next week he will see a specialist with the aim of looking at what, if anything, more can be done to resolve his back issue.”
Elliott has had a frustrating 2016 thus far and the 23 year-old has been a notable absentee in the Collingwood forward line. Elliott played arguably his best football in 2015 as he led Collingwood’s goal kicking tally with 35 majors.
According to Balme, a return to the field this year is still a possibility.
“We can’t be certain of that but we would like to think so,” Balme said.

How would you know, Dave?
This year is a write off anyway, so hopefully he will have the time needed to get better. |

Strange, the club has listed this as a "Minor Setback" yet most of the media outlets reporting on it are saying this is Que in the rack for the year:
AFL Website: "JAMIE Elliott has suffered another setback on his troublesome back and there is a possibility he will require surgery, which would sideline him for the rest of 2016. "
FOX Footy: "Foxfooty.com.au understands Elliott suffered a setback at training last Tuesday night that will more than likely see him miss the rest of the season."
Who do we believe? ...either way it is bad news as we don't have anyone like Jamie....highlights the fact the club has not gone after a really crafty small forward. _________________ "To know nothing of events before your birth, is to forever remain a child" - Cicero (Roman Lawyer/Senator) 46 BCE.
