Do not give a damn if Brisbane are no good.... it doesn't change the fact that this was a fabulous win after a week of extreme pressure on coach and players. Gutsy effort from our boys.
I am so very impressed with Faz this season. He is so much more of a team player. Gave a way a couple tonight and almost got as much out of that as kicking them himself!
Well done Frosty on your 50th. You kept thumping the ball back our way with every contest down back in the first half. |

I predicted Brisbane by 32, but what I meant was Pies by 78 if you were to read between the lines. This may well be a falsehood result like the Bombers game but nevertheless I enjoyed the game for a change. Next week might be disheartening once more. Good win and shit we needed that. Top win by the Tigers too, under the pump like us. _________________ RED "BABY" CAVANAUGH: Didn't hear what the bet was.

Very happy with the win.Sure it was against weak opposition,but who cares,a win is a win.I can see now why we went to so much trouble to get Treloar,he's going to be a beauty.And I hope Varcoe is all right.They showed him sitting on the bench in the last quarter,and the commentators weren't sure if he was injured or not.Hopefully it was just a precautionary thing. |

A good win against some admittedly very poor opposition; hard to believe it was the same team that ran the swans to 3 points..probs says a lot about the pressure we brought tonight _________________ "The last thing he expected WAS THE FIRST THING HE GOT!!!!!"

Impressive. Very impressive. I don't think I've ever seen a team have the first 20 scoring shots of a game. It doesn't matter who the opposition is (and Brisbane at home are never a walkover), that is incredible.
A great win against the odds and very close to a four quarter effort. That backline won't work against many teams, but the Lions were inept tonight and rarely got the ball forward in the first half so good was our pressure and contested ball work. Only one Lion had over 20 touches (Sam Mayes).
Treloar and Pendlebury were obviously brilliant with Adams and Sidebottom also very good. Howe had a definite impact in his best game for the club, I'm sure we want him as a forward but he's really helped us down back the last couple of weeks. Up forward White was again pretty good as was Cox. Blair made a strong contribution with 25 touches and 5 clearances. _________________ Well done boys! |

Thought Smith something, he seems to have a bit more time than most, reckon we got a player there. _________________ Defender...........

Yeah, agree. He can certainly find the ball and his disposal was better tonight too. Our two least experienced players - he and Crocker - showed some really promising signs. |

Mate, if we can beat the Cats next Saturday, I will gladly stroll down the main street of Mt Evelyn on sunday, buff naked. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

I know that one of Howe's motivations of leaving Melbourne was the fact that he played defence too frequently and preferred playing up forward, but I think he's actually suited to being a defender but if the need arises he could come in handy as a forward option as well.
Smith and Crocker have gone under the radar but I've seen enough from both boys that they'll be very good players for us in the future. Crocker has plenty of composure and will be a handy forward option for the coming years and Smith's ability to find the ball is impressive.
Grundy was great tonight. He cops too much flak for my liking but considering he's only 22 we need to keep persevering and be willing to ride the highs and lows with him in his development but in another 3 to 4 years when he's 25 or thereabouts he's going to be a gun. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

Number of times we kicked 20 behinds in a match:
2010 = 3
2011 = 3
2012 = 1
2013 = 1
2014 = 1
2015 = 0
2016 = 1 (after 8 games) _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023
