Yep. If the coach has lost the players, I guess that means we would've won by 200 points if they liked him Confused

Damn good game except for the kicking for goal (Sack Dixon). The structure and game plan was there until the players got tired in the second half and it looked good. Loved our defensive efforts and just generally loved watching us win.

I'm a happy little vegemite Very Happy

Hopefully the next couple of days will be <snip> free. Wink

Some observations from the game live tonight (first one for the year for me)

Firstly the first half the lions were not a AFL side they were a complete disgrace and completely deplorable.
That's not a knock on our players but it's a observation watching it live
Ok now for the positives as I saw them
Adam Treloar will win a Brownlow lock it in. He is a absolute gun.
Travis Varcoe is nearly our most important player. He straightened us up so much and his on field direction of the younger players was unbelievable. At one stage he was on the HBF and was pointing and directing young Smith to run in board. Next second his run forward of the ball getting open and receives the pass from Smith.
On Josh Smith (first time I've seen him live) he's going to be ok. He looked very settled tonight (yes I know he didn't have to do a great deal in the first half) but when he was called on he did his job.
Darcy Moore is so courageous it's scary. This kid can play serious football. He took a defender and there lose man away so often tonight. He saw young Smith getting a hard time from Zorko with Zorko slapping him with the jumper and Moore came in and flattened him looking at him on the ground as if to say don't touch my team mate
Cox is actually a lot quicker than he appears in TV. His learning curve must be huge but he contests and is quite clever.
Grundy our pointed Martin tonight clearly and took 3 or 4 contested marks.
Pendles has so much time with ball in hand it's ridiculous. He was our general in the midfield tonight and it showed because Varcoe held the back line together.
Crocker is s player. Never seen him before but he's very smart footballer and worth while keep playing he offers a lot.
White (nicks whipping boy) played his best game in his career tonight (don't know if the stats show it or not) but he compete and has super hands.
Howe is a defender IMO he looked far more comfortable back than I've ever seen him forward.
DeGoey looked like his old self hope it stays with him. He has a bit of mongrel in him

Ok structural wise sitting above we cover down the line to much leaving the corridor open. We press to hard and to high for a inexperienced group. But tonight I saw the midfield work a lot harder going back to cut down time and options for the lions. I don't know why but so many times Frost was left one out inside defensive 50 with 2 men to cover.
When we are allowed and confident enough to run and carry we actually look good and at times very good. When Varcoe was on the pine we looked lost at times but we still backed ourselves which was pleasing.
Finally I'm a realist they are horrible but you can only best what's in front of you and we did that. We played 4qtrs (ok some patches in the 2nd half were iffy)
Overall we won and its 4 points and I liked what I saw from the younger players.

Great stuff Pies

The Treloar trade was worth every cent

Really liked Sidey and Adams sweeping down back

Smith looks like a lock and Crocker also looks pretty good

The running out of defence was awesome

Well I thought we were gone looking at our selected back 6.

Very, very, very happy to be wrong.

A terrific, hard, contested display by the boys. Bring that every week and win, lose or draw you couldn't be unhappy. For Christs sakes we are capable of doing it too so let's make that intense accountable display the precedent.

Pendles, Steele and Adams were all great. And Trealor is a monty for the Copeland barring injury The kid is a $£$%^%%$ jet. Special kudos to Jesse White. You're playing for your career son and with efforts like tonight you have one.

Top effort all round.

Wow that was the best thing you have ever posted on Nicks.
I promised I wouldn't post much come win or lose.
So that is it for tonight.

By the way the Grundy knockers can get stuffed.

He isn't perfect (as the kick across goal will attest to) but he is a raw talent. Get his jump timing right and when he learns to clunk his marks with more regularity (he took some good ones tonight though) and we'll have an A grader. All the other elements are there. He plays from now on no questions asked imo.

Good call Flashman. Most of us are way too impatient with players' development, especially ruckmen. The last couple of weeks he has started to clunk a few, and though his timing at ruck contests is still a bit wonky, he is showing he can get up high. If he continues to improve he'll be a beauty.

I'm fed up with these names! We're Collingwood supporters at the end of the day even if we don't always agree with one another on certain issues.

For what it's worth, I'm still not convinced we've turned the corner yet but regardless of one's position on the coach and the issues currently surrounding our club you have to be happy with tonight's performance and result.

Good point Flashman. Ruckman take ages to fully develop so to expect him to dominate and be a consistent ruckman is very unfair.

I've seen enough from him to convince me that we have a gem on our hands but it's a work in progress still and will be for a few more years.

ONE would think so mate, but when you have posters saying garbage like " sack Bucks thread, will be back next week, enjoy Bucks win against worst team in League"you surely have to wonder. Confused Confused
