Post subject: When do we look at Davoren againReply with quote

Our Club has had the worst run of injuries in the last few years and it is hurting any chance of the Pies building a solid group to implement Bucks game plan. Bucks receives knocks from every <snip> that pretends to be a Magpie supporter, because they honestly believe they understand how to coach an AFL team. They don't of course, and yet we are all hurting watching our current performances.

An interesting coincidence to our recent years of excessive injuries is that we hold Bill Davoren to no responsibility regardless of being the High Performance Director in all this time. Davoren has survived one review, and as anyone listening to end of year presentations knows, he has more spreadsheets as evidence of his success than anyone could believe. Maybe Bill is just unlucky with injuries but it worries me he doth protest too much.

I would like us to look for a high performance director that enjoys a great deal of luck, and give Bill a break because I'm sure he doesn't have any real answers to his unfortunate record. Further, the Members may lynch him if we see another spreadsheetathon from him at the end of year presentation.

You want crisis?? Take a look at the club during the mid 80's.

What's the bloody difference?

tomorrow we will still have a club to support. in the 80s it nearly didn't survive. surely you know the history?

What rubbish.
The Club was never going to fold.
They didn't even get out the tin cans.
They stopped in the cupboard.
Just because you are on the edge doesn't mean you are going over.
Norf was a basket case for decades but it is still here.
Another myth is Ed single handedly stopped us also going down the tube.
History is written by the victors and Ed was certainly victorious.

My recollection is that the club actually asked members to make a 1-off contribution to avert pending bankruptcy.... Tin cans by any other name...
