Ledger's was excellent but was also a fair variation. It was what I guess you call, an interpretation.
The new version in Suicide Squad is a variation rather than an interpretation. A Robin driven insane by the Joker, not the Joker.

My absolute fave. I absolutely love it. I remember the primary school newspaper, and I wrote some article by "Alexander Knox" and everyone was wondering who it was.
Its a shame that series of films went the way it did. That 89 film is an absolute classic.
