You can have a modern facility and not sell it out at the expense of social and club members.

No one is saying the old Social Club at Victoria Park was the bees knees.

Collingwood’s contract with the Commonwealth required construction of a community sports centre that included: a community centre; presentation theatrette; health and fitness centre; function room/cafe; meeting rooms/offices; indoor and outdoor sports playing areas; gymnasium; riding and walking trails; swimming pools and wellness centres for public and private use.

thompsoc, you can blame the government for no social club. not included in the requirements. Laughing

more likely tired of his aggressive condemnation of anyone that has a different view to his. besides, for many it is probably not that big an issue. we don't need to go toe to toe on everything.

call it being uncollingwood but it's not something that's ever bothered me.

Completely and utterly wrong JW
We agreed with their agenda.
We went to the Westpac centre years ago and immediately got locked into a master / servant relationship with the facilities.
I understand how the government lorded it over us.
But we are not independent.
That is the problem and Ed has been responsible for the move from Vic Park.
We were never going to win with the Collingwood council.
But I really wonder about that move to the old olympic swimming pool area.

Chirp, chirp, chirp and chirp.
That is the sound of the Collingwood Social Club tonight.
The only activity are the crickets next to the Glasshouse.
Clink, clink, clink and clink.
That is the sound of glasses
for the corporate private function at the Glasshouse tonight.

Mate, care factor zero.

Where do you live? go to the Coach and Horses in Ringwood or the Diamo if you want to play pokies and watch the game. Or Crown which is just down the road and actually has parking.

I repeat an earlier thought, if there was an actual demand for a social club, if enough people were wanting to go there, we'd have one. They don't, we haven't. Simple really.

Of course you do JW.
You just can't be bothered arguing the Club line.
Well, I appreciate your effort!
You really do have the interest of the Club at heart.

Anyone who thinks what we have today, compared to the awesome tribal atmosphere of the Victoria Park Social Club, is somehow an improvement, is surely a pure arsehole devoid of any honesty or brains.
