Nah - he just wants them to put a great player in the twos to help Cloke get back his 2011 form. Wink

He's no slower or smaller than Sidebottom and to me is a similar type of player. Leigh has a habit of talking down players that leave Brisbane so I wouldn't pay much attention, didn't seem to know that Aish played a good game against Melbourne.

It's too early to say how good he'll be, players take time to find their feet at a new club and Aish is only 20 (only 4 months older than De Goey). His first season at Brisbane was good as a linkup type player, this seems his best role but he's still working up to form after a poor year at the Lions.

Yeah in another post on Aish I questioned whether fitness could be one issue.

If you're not quick then to play a more outside role you need a strong endurance level akin to that of Sidebottom and be an excellent reader of the play.

Can he get close to his level?

Well only time will tell but we shouldn't be scared to send him back to VFL if his form warrants it.

2cm taller but 7kg lighter. Couple more pre seasons will help.

Yes, also, despite my very positive views about Sidebottom, there's no point to pretending that the blueprint for success in the AFL is to be no smaller or slower than Sidey. If you're going to be that size and speed as a player, you either have to be a genuine all-time great like Sidey or, if you can't do that, you've got to be a reasonable player in a top team (like, say, Hawthorn's Mitchell).

Didn't start his preseason till after Christmas so I don't know what people are expecting from him. Not an inside midfielder at this stage of his career but worth his place on the wing and half forward. We need to be patient with him.

Aish is an intelligent player that needs a solid preseason to get his body right for AFL.

I think he's going to be an absolute beauty.

The patience of the average supporter is akin to the credible lifespan of flatulence.

Aish should be more an outside receiver link up player but unfortunately as yet hasn't displayed an ability to find enough open space to ply his craft and win himself some easier possession.

Matthews comments are based on his belief that he may prove to be to one paced to play this role at AFL level so will need to become more inside focused to forge a career.

Hopefully he's dead wrong as we already have better options in that role and desperately need more outside run and classy delivery by foot.

I thought this is what we were meant to be getting with Aish.

Another Reason I have heard that he Lacks Penetration with his Kicking

Totally agree, themonk.

He'll be fine, just give it some time.

Probably similar weight at a the same age though.

Agree with Swoop that he may need to increase his running capacity.

Aish always has been an inside mid. He played his junior footy and sanfl as an inside mid.

He is trying to be turned into an oustside player because of how well he has been known to use the ball - ironically this is what he has seemed to have lost his confidence with.

He is developing and will be a real prospect if he comes on as expected.
